Through 4 games....Beavs are shooting .464 from the field which isn't bad. Opponents are shooting .343 which matches years in the past. Ellie Mack seems to be the "weakest link", preseason hype as a great shooter..... is 8-29, .276. Aleah is the only player shooting well from beyond the arc....12-25, .480. All others are 24-74, .324. So, that might explain why Taylor goes 1-10 when teams are able to "pack it in" on us. Better shooting will solve a lot of problems and blocking out on the offensive boards.

I didn't see teams packing it in on us, at least not Utah. They were extending their defense to defend the 3 and playing physical when it went inside. They were inviting lanes to the basket and mid-range jumpers. Goforth and Samuel can take advantages of the open lanes, but aren't quite ready for the physicality and ball-handling required to effectively punish. We can expect teams to do this all year - they know they can't let this team spot up from 3 - if they can limit Taylor's damage inside and keep us from shooting volume 3s, I think we will be vulnerable until either our slashers are more effective and/or our inside scoring can really get rolling.

I wouldn't worry about Ellie too much. Her form is great and her misses are online, so I think it's just a shooters sometimes miss shots thing. I'll think she'll start to get hot to get to her shooting average. 4 games is a very small sample size for shooting, both for good and for bad. |

Our inside offensive game has to be a legitimate weapon, or, our team offensive stats won't improve a great deal. Our most successful teams have had legitimate offensive production inside and outside.
