Did he go back to New Zealand?
I thought he showed some promise and could have developed into a weekend starter...

Yes, back to NZ. and retired from baseball. I believe he's now a personal trainer or aspiring personal trainer

I met his mother last year, while Mak was warming up before the start of a game. She had travelled all the way from N.Z. to see him pitch that weekend, and he never stepped on the mound. Yikes!

I hoped he'd pan out, but he had trouble throwing strikes, if I remember correctly.

I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night and was never a pitcher but I'm pretty sure not being able to throw strikes is not good.

Hard to get much of an opportunity to show what you can do, 7 IP as a freshman, 9 as a sophomore. Career 2.25 ERA, 6 total walks, 13 strikeouts.
