Pancreatic cancer and other previous illnesses. Great career and a good guy. Wish our OL and DL was half as touch as he was.

34 years, and I still remember the sadness I felt when Art Flemming died. Alex had an awesome run, and will be missed. Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio, the nation turns is lonely eyes to you...

My favorite game show on tv and it was never close, despite the fact that it was a nightly showing of how much I don't know. Pat Sajak of Wheel of Fortune was on a celebrity Jeopardy and he absolutely cleaned up the place in a Ken Jennings-esque performance. Another celebrity Jeopardy featured Jesse Jackson's son who swept the category, "Republicans" and buzzed in on every question before Trebek had finished it. Trebek commented on it and Jackson said, "Know your enemy."
I'll take great game show hosts for a thousand, Alex. Who was Alex Trebek?

FYI you can’t buzz in before the question is finished.

Jeopardy is my favorite too. FYI you can’t buzz in before the question is finished. that must have changed, I saw plenty of times where the contestant buzzed in before the question was finished, got the wrong answer, and Trebek told the person that they needed the whole question. Here’s how it all goes down: The first thing to know is that Alex Trebek must finish reading the clue before the signaling devices are activated. In the early days of the show, contestants could ring in at any time and that led to a lot of quick guesses, negative scores and general confusion. Now, as soon as Alex has finished reading the last syllable in the last word, a staff member sitting offstage presses a button that serves two functions. source: www.jeopardy.com/jbuzz/behind-scenes/how-does-jeopardy-buzzer-work

During summer, they ran some early episodes of Jeopardy because Covid was changing our lives and they hadn’t yet redesigned the set. The first year, you could buzz in before Alex finished the question. It was startling how annoying that was. I’m not exactly sure how long they let contestants buzz in before Alex finished reading the questions, but they changed that the following year. www.jeopardy.com/jbuzz/behind-scenes/when-jeopardy-buzzer-timing-first-became-thing

Ok Jeopardy! fans...who should replace Alex?
I feel like they’ve been grooming Ken Jennings, but I don’t think he can do it. Being an excellent contestant doesn’t necessarily make you a good host.

The biggest question this begs is how did Jesse Jackson’s son qualify as a celebrity? And did he appear on the screen as “Jesse Jackson’s Son”? Pretty thin field I guess!
