Kinda insulting list. These are lists of Not necessarily the best players in order, but someone's favorites teams. How else could a top ten player such as Sasha be mentioned as number 41 on their list? Not impressed at all!

Well, a couple of things. 1, the list is newcomers, which includes Freshman, Grad Transfers, transfers, etc. 2. Sasha was the number 21 recruit in the country by HoopGirlz (Who ESPN uses). Insulting is one reaction I guess. I personally was happy to see Ellie listed that high.

This list is stated as who will make an impact. 5 UO players listed in top 21. Is everybody already on campus suddenly going to be riding the pines there?
I know who should be insulted by this list.

This was a HUGE diss and you think they should just laugh it off? Reality check dude!!! Maybe even take a shot at their mommies....naw, lets not go overboard.

So, trying to stay away from insulting anyone. Let's take a look at this. This is suppose to be newcomer impact. It's not a list of the top talent, but rather it is suppose to be based on newcomer impact.
Oregon got the most picks and the highest pick in #9 Taylor Mikesell. They also got #11 (Prince), #19 (Paopao), #21 (Watson), and #25 (Watson). They didn't include Sabally, who probably doesn't qualify because of the 'newcomer' label, although Prince would be questionable as well since she was with Oregon last season. Whatever the case on who should, and who should not qualify, there is no way on this planet those 5 girls are all going to be in the top 25 in the country in newcomer impact this season. The only way that happens is if Chavez, Shelly, Boley, Sabally Dugalic, Scheer, etc don't play, or are limited in how much they play. Can one or two make the top 25? Sure. Oregon would be slim without those girls having a shot, but all 5 will not be new players making the biggest impact this season. If so, you might as well start those 5, and tell Chavez, Sabally, Boley, etc to take a hike. And, as for taking a hike, you know some of those girls will be transferring next season. We should start a pool on who and how many will go.
They gave Stanford their third highest Pac12 pick with #12 Cameron Brink. I'm thinking Stanford this season has too much talent for Cameron to be in the top 20 for newcomer impact this year.
Cal got the highest choice outside of Oregon and Stanford in Dalayah Daniels at #30. I think it is MUCH more likely Dalayah has a bigger impact this season over Cameron. Cal really needs someone to come on the scene, and Dalayah has the talent.
UCLA got the number 31 pick 6'4" Emily Bessoir from Germany. She may very well fit right in this season. I wouldn't count out her impact at this point.
Oregon State got #35 Ellie Mack, and #39 Sasha Goforth. Both those players are stepping right in to open positions for the Beavs. Look for both of them to make huge impacts this season. Because of their importance to the team, I'd put both of them ahead of Cameron Brink, or most of the Oregon newcomers in terms of impact.
Arizona landed #43 Bendu Yeaney and #45 Trinity Baptiste, two perfect additions to throw in with their returning talent. Both those two should be ranked higher as far as immediate impact in the conference for 2020/2021, but the real talent still lies with McDonald, Reese, and Thomas, so they may not look like stars, but their impact will be huge for their team.
That was my 2 cents, which has probably recently been devalued.

Speaking of Arizona, I can't believe they didn't mention Shaina Pellington, former Big 12 FOY at Oklahoma. She sat out last year as a transfer but there's a few players on the list who are transfers that weren't granted immediate eligbility, ie. they sat out last season.
Agree, no way that many new players for the Ducks have that big of an impact. It's funny because the article even kept mentioning that some of them might have to wait a year or two...but then put all of them on the list anyway.
UConn got plenty of love as well--#1, #3 and #20.

I agree with mancarl. With or without orange tinted glasses, no way do the Ducks have 5 of the top 25 new impact players. I see 2 maybe, if they start for Oregon, just like Mack and Goforth are likely to start for OSU (and should also be in the top 25, rather than top 40). The author is biased toward Oregon for some reason.

Princess I. brought it to women’s hoops. They’ll continue to be media darlings until they stop winning.

Fan posts from UConn board the-boneyard.com: Oct 19, 2020 #131 I think the only reason I have Oregon State in the middle of the Pac is because there's too many unknowns after the departure of Pivec, Slocum, and Kat Tudor. I believe that Tudor's request for an extra year was denied. That being said, Jones will be fantastic down low, Goodman will hopefully step up into the void left by the departing guards. The health of Brown is still questionable, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Honestly, Oregon probably could have benefitted from having a non-conference before diving into the Pac more so than any other team. As it is, they will probably have some growing pains along the way. I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop a few games to teams such as Colorado or California. Or maybe they simply crash and burn after Ionescu in a shocking return to earth. It's really hard to know but there's definitely talent in Eugene. Oct 19, 2020 #132 Another player who should have an impact this year for Oregon St has not even been mentioned. Jelena Mitrovic who was recovering from injury last year seems ready to go. She is a high BBQ player with good back to the basket skills and 3pt range. Oh did I mention she is a sturdy bodied 6'9". The shrimp "Ellie Mack" at 6'3" will probably be playing at a guard position. With Slocum gone they should have more success playing in a style they have had the most success in the past with. Strong post play with good 3pt shooters and lots of ball movement via passing. One thing for sure, no one should dominate them in the post. === And a followup by another: The only way to have success against this team in the post is to sit Mitrovic on the bench with foul trouble. Put her on the bench EARLY in the 1st quarter, and let her sit the rest of the half. Go right at her every time down the court at the beginning of the 1st and 3rd quarter. She can't hurt you from the bench. You'll probably have more success with her backup than her. She should ALWAYS be the tallest player on the floor. That translates to lots of blocked shots, lots of rebounds and lot of intimidation. She does not have to block every shot. If she can make players change their shot, she's done her job ---- In the nation!! Not at 6'9". There aren't that many 6-9 women playing college ball this season. They probably will NOT face each other. They should ALWAYS be the tallest player on the floor. By now, they should know how to play the position, and take advantage of their height. One of 3 things should/will happen...... 1. She goes up strong, makes the basket. 2. She goes up strong, makes the basket and gets fouled. 3. She puts her opposite number on the bench with foul trouble. As I said, Unless you're a leaper with lots of "hops", you're not going to out jump (or block her shot) 6-9!! There's very little you can do against a player that's 3-4 inches taller than you. All you can do is hope you get some weak side help, and try and keep them from getting the ball. Once they get it in the paint, there's not a lot you can do.

Interesting points made on the Boneyard ... but we Oregon Staters have taken the Liam Hughes graduate-level course, and know these arguments have holes.

She was always the tallest player on the floor. There’s a lot more to it than height. Manure Bol agrees with me 😀
