Can somebody explain to me why the Oregonlive.com website has such poor coverage of the baseball team. For example - this last weekend not one story on the Utah series but the ducks had all three games against UCLA with a story. This has happened other weekends as well.

The Oregonian Beavers Blog has articles all the time on the games. Click on the link below to access the Blog. The Blog has stories on all Beavers sports. blog.oregonlive.com/behindbeaversbeat/

I was referring to headline stories not something where you have to go specifically to a blog to find a story. Of course a blog is going to have al the stories on a specific subject. Beaver baseball coverage on Oregonlive is like having to look on the 2nd or 3rd page of a newspaper section when another team is on the front page.

Great question... maybe winning 2 national championships make it unfair to cover us more then the team down south who is struggling just to win?
I also think that the media didn't track our schedule changes this weekend very well.... maybe that was a part of it. No excuse, just one more bit of evidence pointing to lazy reporting.
Frustrating for sure..... for those of us who live in or around Eugene we have to put up with the Register Guard's antics.... but at least you can say that is the _ucks paper.... the oregonian should be putting more energy into covering all of the major sports in the state of Oregon. Shameful.

Well, they did lose all 3 games, so negative stories about them can be viewed as a positive for us.

1) the uo is a journalism school 2) the Oregonian is 'loaded' with these duck wonks 3) the ducks PR machine thinks that all news is good news 4) Even when Beaver articles do appear, they are raising questions, downplaying successes or undermining our activities 5) Read any duck article and the superlatives are enough to make you gag ..." 5 star blown away by visit", " number 1 JC want's duck offer", "Adams is better than Goff", "Track Town is world class"..... C 6) Contrast with Beaver news..."Beavers searching for answers", Beavers lose final - but eke out series win", " Beavers going after 5 Star recruit that Really wants a duck offer", " Andersen not happy with wide- outs" I mean, it's just sickening, really ! But, newspapers are no longer about news, they are about creating their own little realities.

The o story on out of town baseball is usually just Hank's recap of the game. The o puts zero effort into following Beaver baseball. I have seen the same for the fighting hortons. Although I did not check to see how the o covered them last weekend

Just to let you know all three duck games against UCLA were on o-live (not on the blog). The Beavs against Utah not one game was covered (unless you went to the blog).

Ok... so I'll get "yelled" at BUT... all of you/us on here are much more intelligent and have more worth while things to do than expect anything much of the "O"/o-live.
I just do not get the entire thread. Everyone on here and in the state knows the "O" and everything it tries to produce is a pile of crap. Yet, some of you seem to keep expecting more. Why? Not sure that is the fault of the paper/company. They'll get progressively worse, not better, until they eventually are no longer in existence.
There are a plethora of outlets to get all the Beaver news you want. The "O" is not even in worth the time to pull up, let alone get uptight over. You all write better, and know more about the comings and goings of OSU athletics than anyone on that staff... 90% of their material is rehashed from other sources.
Is it really being media friendly to the ucks when no one really cares or reads that pile?

I think my frustration with the state of Oregon media is that there are a bunch of people not like us... not making a great effort to follow either team and are wildly influenced by headlines and the lack of equal coverage. Those are the people we talk to at Birthday parties, our kids games, family events, work etc..... they are uneducated and lazy but it is still annoying.

Now for the big question --- have you written to complain? Mark Katches -- mkatches@oregonian.com

If you go or have gone to oregon live it looks like just another website. if you actually subscribed, or know someone who is subscribing but does not use any internet or smart phones, you can piggy back their subscription and go to their website that looks exactly like a newspaper. Titles, columns, pictures, crossword puzzle, comics in color, oh my!!! Oregonian digital.

This will self correct once the tournament rolls around and the schmucks are sitting at home
