My son and I get to attend the Saturday game as a fathers day present so am bringing my daughter and grandson. My grandson has become a giant beaver fan as a second grader. Of course dad and grampa are very proud. On a side note the nice lady at the ticket office said getting tickets for baseball games is one of if not the hardest tickets to get. When you live 200 miles away and have a busy life sometimes trying to schedule in a ballgame is tough. By the way this game was our third choice but the first two were sold out. It is a two edged sword, great to have such great support and attendance but tough for some people to get up to see a game. We will be there in our beaver gear ready to go and expect a victory. Go BEAVS.

That's great. Have a fun trip. Get that 2nd grader a chance to walk on campus. Got to get the hook in early to set it
Is UCLA the final series? I know it is toward the end. Could end up playing for something meaningful. Frankly I think you got a great weekend

Thanks Tigardbeav. It does look like we may have gotten fortunate. We try to take in at least one football game every year, usually bring anywhere from 8 to 14 people for that. Of course we have family over to catch beaver games whenever they are not on Pac-12 channel. My grandchildren get a kick out of watching their dad, uncle and grammpa act silly during the game. We tend to jump up and down yell and even throw hats the the tv. Of course it helps when grammpa and dad graduated from OSU. We have wonderful neighbors and 2 of them are OSU grads and the other family are simply yuck fans, even though they are very nice people. We have lots of fun during the fall.

This is my first time to do something other than read the comments on this board, but I have to share about what an incredible Athletic Dept. OSU has. I'm a new Grandpa - granddaughter Ila was 6 months old yesterday. A few weeks ago I told the other Grandpa that we needed to take our granddaughter on her first date. I suggested a Beaver baseball game, which being a big Beaver and baseball fan, he was all over. We got permission from her parents (our kids, also Beaver grads), and we are going together for the Sunday afternoon game against the ducks on May 15th. Little Ila won't remember anything from the game, but will have pictures and ticket stubs as remembrances of a couple old codgers long after we're gone.
Next, I sent an e-mail to the Beaver Athletic Dept., told them our plans for her first date and asked if there was any way we could get some kind of souvenir, perhaps maybe a game ball, that she could have for 10-20 years down the road. Their response was phenomenal! They loved the idea, said just let them know which game we are coming to, and they will have the whole team sign a game ball for her! I was flabbergasted at both their kindness and generosity, and have since shared this story with dozens of other people. How many schools would do this sort of thing, even to the point of making follow-up phone calls and e-mails to make sure we were taken care of?
None better than the Beavers - that's my take on the integrity, class and quality of the Beaver program!

Great Story! Congrats Grandpa! Have a great time at the game. And, not like she'll remember it, if you hang out afterwards and find out where the players come out, you might be able to get a pic with a couple. We've gotten them with Jeff Hendrix, Andy Peterson, Dylan Davis, Michael Conforto, and Logan Ice in years past! Most of the kids are very gracious and I know that the coaching staff has preached to them "Hey, remember when you were a kid." I think it's a win-win. The players feel good about it, you feel good about it. Reflects well on OSU and the entire program. Have a blast at the game!

Thanks for the encouraging words, bwildbeaver. It is an absolute blast being a grandpa. After five of our own, it's beyond cool to have a "new" little one that we can dote on. The other grandpa and I have been to a game this Spring, also my youngest daughter and me, but I didn't know you could see the players after the game. You're right about the connection between the players, kids/future players and supporters of the program. I'm amazed at the quality of the kids the Beaver athletic teams bring in; in large part, I think it's a reflection of the character and priorities of the respective coaches, e.g. Riley, Rueck, Casey.
If our story is any indication of what the Athletic Dept folks do with others, we really are blessed to have such a caring group in Corvallis. And as we know, it's all about making positive memories with the ones with whom we are the closest. Thanks again for responding to my story!
