A few more notes on Carson who will play varsity ball this year in the strong MRHS program. Mountain Ridge has produced two recent early round draft picks in Parker Markell (M's)and Mathew Liberatore (Cards). He has been playing organized baseball since he was 8 and has been an active participant in the travel leagues and tournament events since age 13. His summer and fall experience includes playing with the Arizona Desert Cats, Scottsdale Dirtbags, Arizona Baseball Club, New York Mets u/c Scout Team and the USA Baseball 16u trials. He's been named to several All Tournament teams.
Carson is a serious student and active in school activities. The scouting reports on him most frequently mention his athletic ability, solid frame and and growth projection. His swing is compact and clean with a direct path and consistent barrel contact. Has a very rhythmic swing with a minimal stride and a quiet body. Scouts like his loose hands and release of the barrel and like his power projection. He hit several long dingers this summer, one a deep shot in a wood bat tournament.
He shows a high baseball IQ and is mature and advanced beyond his years. One of the best hitters in loaded Arizona 2023 crop. He is climbing in the rankings and is currently ranked #10 on the Arizona Top-40 with Prep BB Report and #15 on the Arizona Top-50 with Perfect Game. Perfect Game says he's #123 Nationally in the 2023 class
The Prep websites have him listed as OF/C but four different scouting reports think so highly of his receiving skills, they say he's a catcher when he arrives at OSU in the summer of 2023. From looking at the video clips, I'll side with the scouts.
