Is it really a good idea for OSU to invest 100s of millions of $$$$$$ to rebuild the west side of Reser?

Unless the money is already allocated/earmarked for that........ In which case they may not be able to shift it around annnnnnnnnd what are construction costs currently? If they're low because of Covid-19, break ground!

In which case they may not be able to shift it around annnnnnnnnd what are construction costs currently? If they're low because of Covid-19, break ground! If they can issue 30 year bonds and lock in a low rate - that is a positive. On the negative side, raw materials prices are fluctuating, and if they can't start until the end of this next season, there may be much higher prices for steel and concrete, in part because of projects deferred and in part because of stimulus spending on infrastructure. Even a small increase in the cost of the construction makes for a big difference in amount due when bonds mature.

If we wait long enough the "new" side will have to be done again. Frankly surprised the fire Marshall hasn't shut down the old side.

Odds are the stadium build will never be cheaper than right now. The big question is what is the additional use they have planned for the west side and how does the possibility of the on-campus student population dropping affect that? Supposedly the west side construction is supposed to be about more than just football, and with that in mind I'd say the sooner the better unless the non-football side of the equation is affected by Covid to the extent that it shouldn't happen.

Absolutely...need to look long term. If we take out a loan to offset the lower funds this year, this can be a blip on the Covid can be a blip on the radar. People don't like to pay off debt...they like to pay for hope in terms of fresh new facilities.

Remind me again why a larger stadium is needed when it currently does not sell out. What a joke.
The Ducks did it right: go over capacity for years THEN build. Heck, even they can’t sell out games now. Look at the other conference schools that have decreased capacity. Stanford (massive decrease), Cal, ASU, and USC somewhat. The goal should be ticket demand. Make it a hot ticket like Oregon did years ago. Say what you want but Uncle Phil and Kilkenny are not bad business people.
Just make it a desired ticket then we can think about this. Until then enjoy the asymmetrical stadium. Oregon has a 1/2 and 1/2 stadium and does not seem to bother them.

People don't like to pay off debt...they like to pay for hope in terms of fresh new facilities. The problem will be competing demand for materials. If the contractor tries to buy materials at the same time other projects [delayed by the economic consequences of COVID] the price could rise significantly.

40 or 41,000 max for the new and improved Reser Stadium with amenities. Wouldn't be finished for a few years,so many hopefully will feel like a stadium with a large crowd will be safe post Covid.

When I went with an alumni tour group the speaker said they were shrinking the number of seats and upgrading the swank.

When I went with an alumni tour group the speaker said they were shrinking the number of seats and upgrading the swank. I honestly believe that's the right way to go. We don't NEED more seats. There won't be enough butts to fill them, imo. Improve the west side, OF COURSE, but aesthetically with great concessions and a fan friendlier environment. Forty thousand passionate Beaver fans in an enclosed, intimate setting?? Yes! FYI---I'm NOT one of those who cares ahelluvalot about "fan experience," etc. I'm there to watch a football game. Too damn nervous to eat, or drink anyways....... That is, until the final horn sounds. Go Beavs!!

Why do I have the words “Duck fan” on my stats to the left? Is this something a mod did? I certainly did not do it. If that was placed there by a mod I would like to request that you remove it.

I attended UNLV and USC. I taught as an adjunct in the OSU music department from 1988-1995. I am married to an OSU grad and 2 of my 4 boys go/went to OSU. We attend all home football games.
I am first a UNLV fan. I live in Coburg and travel to work in Las Vegas. OSU is my hometown team and gets 100 percent of my entertainment budget. Is that not OK? If not, that’s fine.
A “Duck fan”? I do admire what Oregon has built. If that makes me a Duck fan in your eyes I guess we can agree to disagree.
