Nearly all of these iconic mascot images (including Benny Beaver) were created by one guy. Arthur Evans of the Angelus Pacific Co in Fullerton, CA.  "During his 45-year career at Angelus, Evans (who died in 1981) penned an astonishing assemblage of many of the best-known icons of college and universities from coast to coast. A 1963 trade ad for Angelus shows more than 100 mascots, a Who's Who of Division I giants that includes the Duke Blue Devil, the Purdue Boilermaker, USC's Tommy Trojan, Oregon State's Benny Beaver, the Georgia Bulldog, Wisconsin's Bucky Badger, the Oklahoma Aggies, and many more." The Sailor Benny is classic ... the Wazzu Cougar logo looks pretty nice but yeah wtf is going on with that husky logo? hahaa why would any of their fans want to get behind that logo of a beat up looking drunk dawg  |
