UCI's Friday night guy was lights out early. Had a no hitter going until the 4th or 5th inning. Got pulled in the 8th, not sure why. I don't think his pitch count was that high, but the Dirtbags suddenly had men in scoring position, with UCI holding a 2-0 lead. The Irvine reliever promptly gave up two runs, and we went extra innings. In the bottom of the 12th Long Beach State got a man on, then a slap base hit when showing bunt got runners on both first and second. A nice bunt moved them over to 2nd and 3rd, with one out. The next batter was purposely walked to load the bases, for a double play setup. The pitcher got behind on the count, and the batter lined a drive to center that was deep enough for the guy on 3rd to score. Oddly, the center fielder walked in and let it sail over his head. The Dirtbag batter was mobbed by his team between first and second base. Game over, UC Irvine loses 3-2.
