Will players from both teams get trophies after each game?

For me, it's always going to be the Civil War: having said that, we could always meet between Junction City & Monroe and drag race or something.

Do I think this was a necessary step...no. But do I ultimately care what they call it, no. I'm sure I'll still call it Civil War for a few years and then eventually adopt whatever name is chosen. It's just like anything else that gets renamed, be it Rose Garden to Moda or Safe-co to t-mobile, it's annoying for a while and then nobody cares anymore. Or Parker to Reser Stadium.

Perspective from a current player: well good for him. Im glad he feels better about the university now. Of course his dad is worth $50 plus million so I doubt hes faced the same financial struggles that many African American kids have or the trauma of growing up in a crime ridden neighborhood which west linn is not. Tearing down statutes, burning flags and renaming syrup is pretty easy. Investing your time and money to help black communities doesnt seem to be on the current agenda for the social media warriors.

Joe Casey had a great take - literally copying the definition of the term.

Outrage culture strikes again. This is ridiculous.

They could call it the Hug Your Neighbor Festival and I’d still show up and cheer against the Ducks. I’ve changed my stance on the naming issue (Gill Coliseum, Benton Hall, etc.) over the years. It’s not worth keeping the name just for keeping the names sake.
Much like the changing of the logo was met with a bunch of angry saber rattling, I don’t know anyone who stuck to the notion that they would no longer support the teams because the logo looked weird.
