275 years today, which is also Flag Day. One thing missing this year because our Elks Lodge is shut down is our annual flag show put on by the Scouts (boy and girl) that they show every flag that has been used since our first one. Quite the deal and they do it well.

Quite the deal and they do it well. 275 years ago today? That would be 1745? Today is the 245th Anniversary of the Continental Army, which is typically celebrated as the birth of the United States Army. It is the 243rd Anniversary of the Continental Congress adopting the original American Flag. Flag Day was only celebrated intermittently thereafter before it began being celebrated annually in 1885. Today is also the 174th Anniversary of the Declaration of an independent Bear Flag Republic, when Northern California declared its independence from Mexico. The Republic lasted for 28 days before Americans began arriving by land and sea to take command of the Rebellion and coordinate the continued invasion of California.

I'm math challenged obviously. Army was founded in 1775. Thanks for the correction.
