Wowsers! It looks like the NCAA is about to get the one piece of news it didn't want. Read all about it!These stories aren't even surprising anymore. Bottom line: we know that Nike and Adidas are funneling cash to high school athletes to attend their camps and "their" schools. "Their schools" is a term that should make the average college athletics fan shudder. The concept of "fair" competition in an "amateur" environment has been destroyed when shoe companies are the source of corruption behind recruiting.
With that kind of background, it's hard to want to can Tinkle for his basketball record. What is he up against? Phil Knight once called OSU "a Nike school (that definitely made me shudder)," but if an athlete is considering uo and OSU, where is Nike really going to steer the kid? It is a conflict of interest to say the least.
Tinkle...I feel fine about criticizing his development of players and his game preparation, but I can't see criticizing him for his recruiting. OSU just doesn't have the resources to compete.

I'm almost to the point that I wish Oregon State at least got a mention. Seriously tho, how much did we lose back in the early 80's over the stuff that is almost the level of being put on double secret probation these days?
