Elks lodge closing permanently?
I've recently read that they are expecting 25% of the small businesses closing within the next year, that figure might be low if the state remains on lockdown.

Not the lodge, the baseball team. I was on the Board of Directors when we closed for the duration of this. A week or so later, the national board closed everybody. We will reopen, We just had to do it. We are mostly older and do congregate in a very friendly manner, Our big fundraiser was Thursday bingo and we closed that a couple weeks before we closed the lodge. That loss of income hurts. Over half of it went into our local charity fund.

A little history. Way, way, way back, before your daddy wasn't a gleam in his daddy's eye, the baseball team was founded. It was one of those little town teams. The sponsor of the team was the Bend Elks Lodge, ergo the name of the team, Elks. For a short time as it morphed into a short season minor league A team, the name of the team changed depending on the MLB affiliate, but now it is back to its origin. The Bend Elks lodge is now in its 102nd year of existence.

For a short history of the city of Bend baseball. Look up the Central Oregon Daily story, history of minor league baseball in Bend. The story recounts the 117 year history of Bend baseball.
