Interesting comments on the defensive potential of Sasha, as well as the athleticism on Samuel.

Yeh, it's pretty obvious from everything Rueck has said about Sasha both in the past and in today's podcast, that he is VERY high on her basketball abilities....and he's made no bones about the fact that he thinks she will make a difference immediately.... He said the same things last summer about Jones & Brown and his predictions for both of them were pretty much spot on....
Personally, I'm encouraged when he talks about Samuels' athleticism.... He doesn't refer to athleticism nearly as much as other traits when he is describing his players - so maybe this is a sign that she possesses unusual athleticism.... That's what I'm hoping for because Rueck has had some super athletic players in the past 6 years including Weiss, Hansen, Gulich, Pivec and others.... (Those of you who believe that lighting quickness and great jumping define basketball "athleticism" - give that one a rest!).
At any rate, thanks for posting wbosh15.....It's a fun listen..... GO BEAVS !!

Things that stand out to me
Sasha could be the next Gabby, huge praise
We have another great pair of freshmen
Samuels is athletic
Mack sounds like a cross of Taya and Mik, expect big things from her
Jazz staying in Corvallis is total commitment, personally I can see her breaking out this season.
Rueck is a joy to listen to, so articulate.

Thanks for posting. I think Scott leaves little doubt that Ellie and Sasha will play major roles this season. I had forgotten about Savannah's athletic ability. She had some great track numbers in High School.
Scott got me pretty excited to watch Sasha play.

The highlights of Sasha's tourney game against Jersey W. really showed her defensive ability. 3 or 4 different plays in the highlight package of her moving her feet on the drive and then blocking the shot. Her length will be really make an impact on the perimeter.

It would be interesting to know how the players are doing without access to the OSU Basketball Center or OSU weight room while in Corvallis. Are they getting their shooting in on outdoors courts or might they have access to indoor gyms somewhere near Corvallis?
The ready access that the players have previously enjoyed allowed them to shoot at all hours of the night. I heard that a number of them were gym rats and often stopped by the Basketball Center to get shoots up on nights after practices.
