Yeah, I'm not hitting the panic button yet either. Still a lot of baseball to be played, and with the sticks in our line-up I believe this team COULD win it all IF they are playing the right way when it matters. Will they? Who knows. If some guys step up in the bullpen, this team has a chance.
I'm not putting a ton of stock in this series. Talk about living right, not only did Wazzu pull a rope-a-dope on the Beavs by completely crapping themselves in the first game, and then coming to God and playing like an entirely different ball club the next two games, they had a bunch of stuff that just fell their way that was pure chance. At one point on Saturday as they came back to take the lead they hit 3 seeing eye ground balls in a row. Any one of those is a few inches in either direction and the whole series could have gone the other way. How many more times is that going to happen against us this year? A .120 hitter hits a grand slam? Gee, look what I found mom! Blue gave us NO favors this weekend either. Just a cavalcade of crap this weekend. Some of it is fixable, but sometimes it's better to just flush a bad performance. To me, this is one of those times. This loss wasn't so much about the Beavs playing poorly as it was about Wazzu finding magic in a bottle at just the wrong time for us. Is it any coincidence that it was against the "best" team in the conference? This is a watershed moment for them. I hope they can back this win up and keep the momentum going, but this is a "low" point that the Beavs can build from. Keep competing, and let's make our watershed moment a couple months from now.
