Closed. Building and lot for sale. A Bend institution. Great burgers and breakfasts. Always busy. Owners were looking to retire anyway after 37 years. The coronavirus just made their minds up for them. Just closed the doors. Sigh.

That sucks. I've noticed a few businesses where the owners just decided it was time to retire. Very little chance to sell them.
No one wins on this situation. The owners lose the chance to sell them and make some more retirement money. Someone else loses out on the chance to buy an established business and work it. The consumer loses out on a physical establishment to shop at. The community loses out on the jobs and tax income.

It provides an opportunity for someone new to take a chance and buy the business, just like the people that are shutting down once did. It’s not like the property will disappear off the tax rolls. And the people that worked their ass off for 37 years pushing burgers? They deserve a chance to enjoy it. Oh, and don’t worry about them. I think I read the property is for sale for $2.25 mil.

The original owner/operator have essentially been gone since 2007.

The original owner/operator have essentially been gone since 2007. Just going off the OP. Would reinforce my opinion anyway, or either way.

Can't remember if it was passed on to family or employee, but the quality and quantity (huge) never changed. The only thing wrong with the place was the furnishings were really dated but it was always clean and the service was great. I don't think anyone who worked there knew the word "no."

When it's sold, it will probably become a strip mall. It is on a major east-west street.

It's another verse to the "Highway 20 Blues".
