This has been pissing me off for some time. Why do the ducks have a fancy new license plate at the DMV and the Beavs still have the old tree with the lame orange square and a small logo? Anybody know the answer? Just plain bias?
I have the angry beaver still in good shape due to license plate covers that several police have told me to take off over the years but I'd like a new all black and orange plate. We deserve an upgrade like u of nike and the blazers and i'll never understand how a govt agency can roll out one university without rolling out the other at the same time. it's BS.

When I got new license plates about 5 months, I asked about the OSU one. It is markedly different (as you describe AND Benny is a STICKER on the plate) from the ducks, which is a custom plate. Woman behind the counter said UofO designed their plates and here's the article announcing them. The OSU plate was introduced in 2009. You'd think there would be some creative graphic design and business students who could design one and market the heck out of it. Of course now in coronaland a new license plates design is probably way way down on the list of priorities.

I've wondered that too. Is not like OSU is the largest university in the state, oh wait, it is.

Of course the irony is I use the "u of nike" in my post and there's a nike connection to the new plate. Question answered. Surprised there's not a swoosh on them.

Looks like ODOT has a process for universities to propose/apply for a special plate design. www.oregon.gov/odot/Forms/DMV/7410.pdf$5000 fee to get the process rolling. And 3,000 vouchers for the $40 special plates fee.

I’ll stick with my classic sailor Benny plate. It’s painted on and not a sticker like the new ones.
