How can the 5-6 teams be on the clock so long? Obviously they have a draft board. Unless, the phone is ringing off the hook from other teams offering you X for your pick.

ESPN was freaking out, the picks were coming in so fast that their programming schedule and money maker, was going to be over before Mel could get upset about teams not listening to him. So they slowed things down and are now making damned sure people take their time!

That’s what I see too.
FWIW I like this format. With a little common sense and some timing resolutions to catch the players families excitement (finally figured it out), you get to see the Coaches/GM’s/Owners with their families and little kids. More fun for me that the serious meat-grinder the NFL truly is.
