Looks like it's 133 LB Juco National Champ Jason Shaner out of Clackamas CC (and Hood River HS)

Good start. The Clackamas program is a juco powerhouse. Really hoping coach Pendleton can get back to getting some of the elite national in-state wrestlers from the high school ranks...

I was disappointed when we didn’t sign Shaner out of HS (no idea if grades were an issue or not) Have watched him wrestle dozens of times between HS and JC. Tough kid, aggressive, always looking to score. Have seen him put up some serious points vs some solid NAIA guys. Will still be a big leap but I believe he has his RS year too.

Hopefully he might have looked at some Culver or Crook County kids. Particular Culver. Dinky school with multiple state championships and would regularly kick some 5 and 6A ass. No telling where you are going to find a gem.

Hope coach Pendleton can tap into the C.V. program when there are high level recruits there...

No telling where you are going to find a gem. Don’t get me wrong, Culver is an awesome program but I don’t think they have ever sent anyone to D1. With that said, two of my sons teammates are from Culver and they did a great job this season as true freshman at the NAIA level. Crook on the other hand has put out a few D1 kids recently. Culver hasn’t been quite as tough the last couple seasons but my understanding is they are pretty young right now. Great thing about Crook is they schedule an annual dual with Roseburg and I believe the last 2 years have taken on Crescent Valley. Good to see the tough teams seek out tough opponents.

Hope we keep an eye on Justin Meija now that he’s at Clackamas. One of top recruits in the country out of HS, 4x Cali state champ. Committed to Iowa then signed with Illinois. Was ineligible, was supposed to transfer to Fresno - not sure what happened there and now at Clack. Hopefully we finally see him on the mat.

I remember the kid that bounced from Iowa-Ill-etc. I forgot it was he. Yes if it's a grades and study deal, lets hope he takes care of that and considers us for 2 or 3 seasons?
