Let's be real here - the snark is not about Dastrup. It could be any player on the roster transferring outside of Ethan, and most of us would be 'ok, good luck', with very few notable memories to thank them for. That's not on Dastrup or any other player personally, it's on the coaching staff and allowing the roster going into next season to be in this condition. But, it's only his 6th full recruiting year, hard to recruit to OSU, having coaches' sons drove away top recruits, it's the virus. Could be a team full if mid to low level JCs by next Fall and folks will still offer up excuses/support.

Hey, the kid wants to go someplace to play some ball and get some PT. Good for him and good luck.

Hey, the kid wants to go someplace to play some ball and get some PT. Good for him and good luck. The real issue isn't his leaving. It's why was he recruited here in the first place. There was nothing about his contributions or film that indicated he was close to being a Pac12 contributor. Good luck Payton.

A lot of people were really high on him outside of Oregon State. A lot of sportswriters outside of Oregon State were pointing to Dastrup as being an X-man, whose development would make this season a success or not. He did not live up to the coaches' expectations. He did not live up to the sportswriters' expectations. He did not live up to my expectations. He did not pan out. It happens. Good luck, Payton!

I was hoping Dastrop would atleast be an off the bench player who could be a stretch 4 who could give us some scoring from the three point range and a good team player. He just didn't pan out,and I wish him the best of luck at his next stop.

BYU certainly wasn't according to his PT. After a year in the program WT wasn't so "high" either. That's the facts, not imaginary "others were high"...

However, he didn't pan out at BYU prior to OSU giving him a shot.

I guess NBC, Yahoo!, Inside College Hoops, Arizona State writers, and UCSB writers were all imaginary. Dastrup was supposed to be a sharpshooting four with all of the tools to play the position both inside and outside. He was heavily recruited by Ohio State before choosing BYU. His problem seems to be mental, as he has the ability. Tinkle thought that he could get 4* production out of him but was unable. Meh

Interest doesn't equal anyone thought highly of him. Shows you exactly how well your named sources knew about Payton. Think they ever personally watched him play? Mental... he's was in no shape at all. He had a year to use D1 training to improve. He could have been a Dixon legend and supposedly a very nice kid. And, he fits the success rate WT has found in his JC/transfers.

OSU's all time leading scorer, second leading all time rebounder, and top 10-12 all time in three or four other categories and you're saying he wasn't 4 star productive?

You might want to look at the complete list of transfers. KK being the extreme outlier.

It was not a given he was coming here.
