Very cool - thanks for posting!
I personally am more interested in her going on to do more great things at NASA/Blue Origin/SpaceX than the WNBA. Thank Ruth, and all the best - you are always a champ with Beaver Nation!

What an intelligent, caring, talented, well spoken, and loving woman!! We are so lucky she decided to play at OSU. I hope her future will be as successful as her experience at OSU! Bob

Khadidja Toure. Transferred after sophomore year. Replaced by JC transfer Hill in 2014. That's a pretty good batch of northwest-centric talent.
Sam - Albany Deven - Keizer Jamie - Clarkston Kadidjah - Kennewick Ruth - Houston BC

Ruth mentions her family's trip being 22 hours. I googled the distance--very close to 1000 miles one way.
Portland to LA is about 1000 miles. My guess is the road north of Hope BC is not as good as I-5

Is there anything this young woman is not capable of doing? She will continue to leave her mark on the world, wherever she goes.

My software calculates the trip as being 998 miles and right at 17 hours of driving which I can usually beat by about 5% to 10% with my lead foot. Must have factored in about 5 hours of rest stops or that horrible Seattle traffic I guess. Either that or she is not quite the engineer I thought she was. LOL
I've driven that road all the way to Prince Rupert a couple of times (I lived in Ketchikan, AK for a couple of years) and I do not remember the road being in bad shape or anything.

I used to drive to LA a lot. 9 1/2 hours Portland to Sacto (580) is about as fast as you can go without really taking a risk for tickets. I have heard people say they can go faster, but I know what I could do and I was cruising close to 70 most of the time. CHP is humorless as we all know. Sacto to LA is about 400 which takes less than 7 hours unless you take unreasonable risk.
Just to illustrate that I know what speed is, I rode with my buddy from Astoria to Portland in the early 50's, including the old way through Seaside and no passing lanes until Cedar Hills on 26--100 miles in 75 minutes. I didn't protest because I couldn't speak.
I have never been north of Lytton on Can 1. The road from there to Hope is not bad, but my guess is that it is far slower than I-5.
The 22 hour figure I quoted was generated by google.
