Not making accusations, and I'm not inside, but chemistry is very important to Scott both on the court and off. Maybe the team chemistry wasn't there with everyone on that team this year and last. Just because your talented doesn't make you a good fit...pure speculating. I think that all the people who have met Destiny and have observed how she treats others in a professional and caring manner will recognize that she did her best to do and say the right things about the OSU program. She clearly wants to play in the WNBA. She should be able to play more minutes, take more shots, and get the chance to be more creative at UCLA, Oregon, or any of the other programs that posters on other boards are predicting she will land. I really don't think that she was a team chemistry issue based upon how she was consistently positive and deflected credit to her teammates when speaking with Ron Callan during interviews. Leaving a program where you have grown into a young adult for the last three seasons (one a redshirt year) is a big step and one that Slocum wouldn't have taken if she felt that playing one more year at OSU would have enhanced her WNBA prospects. I hope that she lands at a school outside the PAC-12 because I could see her giving OSU fits if it has to compete against her two (or more, depending upon the PAC-12 tourney) times next season. Who would be assigned to try to stay in front of her? Sasha Goforth?

SR is old school and likes to play at a deliberate pace and run more set plays then most programs. It has well during his tenure but I think it would benefit recruiting if we opened up the offense and ran more. I think this was one of the reasons why Hailey Van Lith looked past OSU to a program that fit her style of play. Same with Evina Westbrook.

I have made I have read through each post. I was a fan of Destiny. I have questioned his offense and really believe that is the issue. He is a good defensive coach. I think He needs much more uptempo system. Our coaches need to look in the mirror. I put it on them. Hope She does well. Will be missed.

I very definitely remember it happening rather regularly while Syd was here. It's what Scott does, and it's nothing new He's always used a series of hand signals as the ball was coming up the backcourt. The hand signals apparently aren't always clear enough for the point guard to see unless she is close enough to him on the sidelines. That may be why the point guards dribble towards him frequently to ensure that they are relaying the correct play call to their teammates. I frequently worry that an opposing defender will pick our point guards when they are distracted by looking over for the play call. In any event, it often eats up 3-5 seconds of the 30-second shot clock as the point guard dribbles at him and looks/waits for the play call.

Uptempo is definitely the in game now. Top 10 recruits hope to play in the WNBA and Scotts style of offense is not a WNBA style. I don't think OSU will make it back to the final 4 or get a national championship unless he tweekes his offense and speeds it up.

Is Rueck and OSU coming to a crossroads? He's done a remarkable job building up the program. He's also attracting more talented players than what he initially was able to do. Does he need to adjust or change his system to maximize the abilities of these players? It might seem counter intuitive, but you can certainly find examples of coaches who do better with under the radar, blue collar players than they do with blue chippers. I think we'll need to wait several years to see how players like Jones, Brown, Goforth and Kampschroeder do to find out which way this goes.

That's a drag. Destiny is one of my favorites. Would be very disappointed if she transferred to another Pac-12 school.

I wonder if we would be questioning Scott's style of offense if we had a healthy roster and we're a number 2 seed in the NCAA tournament (top 8 team)? With a healthy Corosdale,Aquino,Mitrovic, and Brown, its very possible...

If you were as talented and fast with the ball as Destiny, would you want to have to look at him every possession to see what play to run? He also benched her far more than any of us here thought he should have. From my eyes, I think she was a great fit (especially as a person), but given she was unhappy at MD, I’m not surprised she was not happy here. She was unhappy. It kind of showed in my opinion.

This is not a total surpirse for me, yet a little surprised. From the very beginnig Destiny's mom complained about Destiny's minutes, in particuar minutes at the end of games.
Personally, I loved Destiny, and thought she improved a lot this year. In my opinion she needed to learn to plan in a controlled system, and she got that chance. Hopefully she will find a place that will unloose her a bit now. She definitely makes a lot of mistakes when she is let go, so it will be good for her to get more experience playing a faster style where she can learn from those mistakes.
As for those of you who think Coach Rueck is a problem here, I'm in total disagrement, and except for the fact that the economy just went to hell, and who knows what my finances will soon be looking like, I would galdly bet you that the Beavs will soon return to the final 8. Maybe I can afford a $....especially if you accept it in pennies.
