It'll be the "fit" excuse now. If you were as talented and fast with the ball as Destiny, would you want to have to look at him every possession to see what play to run? He also benched her far more than any of us here thought he should have. From my eyes, I think she was a great fit (especially as a person), but given she was unhappy at MD, I’m not surprised she was not happy here. I totally agree. Even more than the play calling aspect, I think it was the playing time that might have been a bigger issue. There were several games where DS was taken out, and our offense just evaporated. Scott I think has always felt more comfortable with Aleah, and that might have been the sticking point. Certainly need some guards now. Very disappointed with the news, but best of luck to Destiny where ever she lands.

That sucks - sort of changes the 'needs' side of the ledger ? Big risk for her - I think ! This will be her third transfer ! Only two, right? Maryland > OSU > ?? Baseba1111 is correct. This will be her second transfer. I think it is a very well-calculated gamble for Slocum. Her skills will likely be showcased more in an uptempo offense that encourages transition more often in lieu of allowing the opposing defense to set up and having to grind out every offensive possession. My guess is that her numbers will be significantly improved in a different system that is better suited to her creativity. She likely already knows which quality programs are in the most need for a point guard. As a fan of OSU WBB, I will miss her enthusiasm, love of the game, and the positive manner in which she responded whenever she was interviewed. She gave Beaver Nation two seasons of quality play. The point guard position is often open to criticism and second guessing. Slocum was All-PAC-12 in both of her active seasons in Corvallis. I can understand why she is leaving and respect the words that she used in saying goodbye.

Atleast the year b4 last,Aleah and Mik were in at the end of games versus Destiny. Maybe it was match-ups. Destiny was only 5-6 tops. It just made me wonder...

Certainly didn't see that coming. Wow. I wish her the best. However, I think if many astute watchers of every game this year knew something was indeed up. SR's substitution pattern and use of Destiny changed drastically. Many here mentioned how this team was "different", team chemistry/flow just wasn't right. Not that it could not have been repaired, but there was an obvious fracture.

Slocum was widely considered one of the top 20 players in the nation and one of the top 5-8 point guards. Basketball analysts on television would wonder why Slocum wasn't in the game during crunch time often during the past two seasons. It is a credit to Slocum's confidence in herself and her positivity that she seemed to never let in show in public and consistently praised her head coach during interviews. I think that many of us believe that she deserved more minutes during her two seasons in Corvallis. She was often subbed out during the first break in action in the first quarter. Slocum was one of two players on the roster who could create her own shot off the dribble. When she was off the court, our offensive options were more limited.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she chooses UCLA, since Dean just graduated.

Yeah... didn't think so!

Can’t help but think this wouldn’t be happening if Tudor would have gotten her medical red shirt . Can you imagine what next years team could have been with Tudor and Taya back at full strength.

Honestly I don't remember the stopping and turning to look at the bench for a play call thing at all while Wiese was playing. Have I just blanked it out? It drives me nuts.
