I agree. I like the quotes at the bottom of the release. He'll be good for our upper weights. Dixon, Grant, Doyle will all benefit. He'll be able to recruit Cal too, that's important.
Am being told he will be interviewed on KEJO, 1pm today. (hmm after hearing the opener on the show...they have Jim Wilson slated for 1:05pm, so I'm not sure if he'll be on today. No mention of the hire, 25 minutes into the show by Parker-yet).

yes, his high school is near Fresno. I imagine California recruiting will be better.

I will trust the experts on the board whether this hire was a good or bad one...only time will tell.

I want to preface this by saying that I don't know anything about wrestling other than OSU. The new coach looks to have the petigree but he hasn't been a HC before. Does that worry anyone? Is it different in wrestling than from football where being a HC is a different ballgame than being an assistant?

Sounds good. He should have solid recruiting contacts in California, is a well-known name with recruits in the Midwest. Wyoming got awfully good in 2016-19 and I'd think he had something to do with that in recruiting in the 2013-15 period when he was an assistant there.
I really like coach Z but we had stalled, perhaps regressed. Nice to see some new blood and new energy. Barnes' hiring track record has been excellent so far, let's hope this keeps up.

Listened to Big Jim Wilson...Matthew Grettler next. No mention of the new hire.

Side note, I didn't realize Matthew Grettler and 125, Brandon Kaylor are from the same town in Washington.
