Opens up a spot for Carrington which is interesting: Yes, that would be good. I would rather see Carrington stay at Stanford than go to Oregon. I think her other choice was UCLA. |

Jaden Owens is transferring from** UCLA. She was a very highly ranked recruit in 2019, but may be looking for a fresh start.

Jaden Owens was ranked #13 by ESPN, ahead of both Kennedy and Taylor. It will be interesting to see where she lands, and how her career progresses.

Well, if I was coach Close I sure as hell would like to see it...
Osborne is a rising star with a high ceiling. Her and Slocum in the same backcourt would be a nightmare to defend against....
Close is not at the same level of coaching skill as Rueck, but she is getting better with each passing year....She recruits a bushel of talent every year - I'd hate to see Destiny on that roster...

GO BEAVS !! I agree that the pairing of Slocum and Osborne could be highly productive. Slocum is more skilled and a far better shooter than Dean. Close was able to produce quality results with Dean at the point the past two seasons. While Close is generally regarded as a lesser X's and O's strategist than Rueck, she has been willing to give Dean and Canada the freedom to push in transition and make mistakes without being lifted from the game. Close has created an offensive system at UCLA that encourages her point guards to improvise as needed to exploit opposing defenses when mismatches are apparent. Close would appear to be a good fit as a coach to turn Slocum's talents loose and tolerate mistakes better than what Rueck did with Slocum the past two seasons. It is common knowledge that Close recruited Slocum hard in high school as well as once she entered the transfer portal in 2017 while at Maryland. |

In addition to your comments about Close I will also add that she has a lot of support from her booster clubs....She enjoys a good reputation as a player's coach....
She also works hard at cultivating social consciousness among her players -- in a similar vein to Rueck....
I ws a post-doctoral scholar at UCLA a number of years back and from that position I got to know several basketball boosters.....
WBB was not strong then, but over the years a lot of MBB fans shifted to WBB with the downturn in the Men's game at UCLA.
The boosters I keep in touch with all hold Close in high regard...But, in fairness, they accept it as matter of fact that Rueck is the better coach.
