If someone doesn't like "what if" threads then they just shouldn't read them. I prefer the "if then" threads, but I'm pretty basic.

Is that what it's come to? Celebrating that Oregon didn't win a Championship in a simulation? Wow. Yes. Tough s*** if you don't like it. I'm glad when Oregon loses, real or imagined.

Based on the simulation(s) Baylor wins the NC. So, Queen Floppsy can relax, she and her team were not going win the whole thing anyway. [yes, she really is Queen Floppsy. In a late season nationally televised game, I heard Rebecca Lobo say something close to the the effect that Sabrina is very good at falling down if she is touched at all, forcing the referees to make a call] Ahhh... the SI rants have to continue. I wonder, I and many others have/do referee. I've never been "forced" to make a call when a player goes down? Hmmm... so back in real life, since her team had no opportunity for team awards (other than 31-2, Pac12 regular season and tourney champions... the only other team to do it multiple times besides Furd) in winning it all on the court she'll have to settle for: " the unanimous choice Monday as The Associated Press women's basketball player of the year, receiving all 30 votes from the national media panel that selects the Top 25 each week during the season. Since the award was first given in 1995, the only other player to receive all the votes is Breanna Stewart of UConn (2016)." "... only the eighth player to earn AP All-America honors three times, shattered the NCAA career triple-double mark and became the first player in college history to have 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists." "She was this year's Zion and a household name," AP voter Deb Antonelli said. "Fans and ballplayers respect her game because she works hard and produces when the brightest lights are shining on her. She delivered stats in the game no other four-year player has ever accomplished, man or woman." Maybe we can hope for a player who falls down easily?! I've praised her many times, many places. She's still Queen Floppsy.

I think that Oregon's Graves has handled the NCAA tournament cancellation with far more grace and humility than Staley has to date. I listened to a podcast featuring Graves today and have read a lot of what Staley has stated about her team being the consensus national champion. Graves expresses confidence that his team had a very good chance to win the national title. Staley seems to be offended when the question of how her team would have fared in the tourney even arises. A lesson for all of us with respect to showing humility when faced with responding to a question that will not be definitively answered.

“Crown us the national champion.”
Sorry Dawn. Maybe your team was the best, and I too am sick of the SI adoration and the national narrative that she was hurt more than anyone else who couldn't finish their seasons, but you win national titles on the court. Your team didn't.

I didn't care for Staley much before, but her constant lobbying/begging to be named National Champs is really, really off putting.
In other Dawn news, her own PG Tyasha Harris recently won the Dawn Staley Award honoring the nations top guard. Harris was 3rd team All American per the AP, Ionescu was just named consensus National POY, but somehow Harris was determined to be a better guard? Winning her coach's namesake award. Nothing to see here.

Speaking of Ionescu, she is rightfully receiving a number of postseason awards and has acted graciously every time that I have seen coverage of her receiving a reward.
If I were her publicist (and whoever is performing that role or giving her guidance has done wonders in presenting her to the public and helping her with her brand), I would suggest that she refrain at the next level from questioning fouls and turnovers that are called on her with her incredulous look. She did that frequently at the college level and it wasn't a good look. She consistently gets the benefit of foul calls because she is crafty, intelligent, and is a good actor. In the WNBA, she will likely have to pay her dues and will not receive immediately the favorable treatment on 50/50 calls until she demonstrates that she is one of the best players in the league. I frequently wondered why PAC-12 refs allowed her to react the way she often did to fouls and turnovers that were called on her without telling her to stop it. Maybe they did and I didn't see those exchanges closely enough.
I have a greater level of respect for the players who take refs' calls in stride and don't respond disrespectfully when an official makes a call against them.

The money she will make will be from Nike. Probably will be a multi millionaire before most of us will be or will ever be.
