The rest the Moscow/LA flights are cancelled. That makes God good? What about others that might be trying to get back from Russia to the US or Canada? That was my first thought when I read that. Sigh. That's the issue with those type of posts in general. Easy to construe as self serving. Not as Ruth meant it I'm sure, but to those on cancelled flights!? So, I thought any US/Canada border crossing was closed today... flights included?

Canadians can still return home to their country.

Don't know why you would find fault with her statement. Seems to me that, in the midst of hardship, people pray that God will help them, or show them mercy. They pray for everybody else in general, but for themselves specifically.
So, when something good happens, like getting on the last flight out of Moscow, they thank God for the specific good thing they believe He has done for them. "God is good" is simply one way of expressing that. She probably believes very sincerely that God was watching out for Ruth Hamblin over the last day or two.
You hear that sentiment espoused countless times by countless people under countless circumstances. Now you've heard Ruth express it. It's a good thing, not anything worthy of criticism.

All prayers are gifts to God, however offered. The Lord knows I've been praying for e veryone from myself to my family and for the entire world right now. God can handle it.

God has always been portrayed and written of as a "He", and perhaps occasionally as a "he." But who knows? In today's world of strange people changing the usage of pronouns, maybe He's a They. Or possibly a deity of transformative sexual gender who happens to be going through a several billion year period of identifying as a He.
Somehow, I don't think Ruth spent much time on the flight pondering why God seemed to have forsaken others trying to get from Moscow to Los Angeles, or what His motivation might have been. It's an arrogant thing, to think one can second guess the gods. Rather, I envision her sitting in comfortable repose, the trace of a smile on her lips, contentedly humming, "California, Here I Come."
In any event, Ruth is apparently one of several billion who believes in a God who occasionally blesses those who seek said blessings. I'm not one such, but they are good people trying to live good lives. What's wrong with any of that? Is she supposed to feel guilty that she made it to America and others didn't? Had she addressed her good fortune in a secular way, saying, "I sure got lucky today" rather than feeling that her God had been good to her, would that have been OK with you?

Lol... arrogant to second guess, but ok to surmise he/she watches over you in particular. And, I thought "godly" good people were always thinking of others before themselves?? But, before you go on another rant about good people who believe in God, yet not being one, you blew this up. It was just a simple comment(s) on how context can easily misconstrued in these trying times. There was no severe criticism of Ruth.

Do you ever Lol in public, or do you make sure to read all these posts at home where your constant Lol'ing won't cause a scene? Do you ever Lsimh? (That's laugh silently in my head.)
