I'm really hoping that Oregon State also changes the way they market wrestling and run the shows. They really label these wrestling events as a country-hickville type of crowd, playing only country songs. It's probably one of the worst run events (if not the worst run) in OSU athletics.

This was released by The Fall fan club and Bob Tomasovic...
Head Coach Search -- Update from Bob Tomasovic
Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:43 PM PDT Dear OSU Wrestling Community Over the last week Oregon State has moved quickly forward in the process to select a Head Wrestling Coach to lead OSU Wrestling back to a premiere NCAA Wrestling top 10 program. The Wrestling Endowment Board with approval of the Athletic Department would like to share with you the progress.
Scott Barnes, Vice President & Director of Athletics, personally called members of the WEF Board, leaders of The Fall, Wrestling Alumni and significant wrestling supporters immediately following the announcement. Scott informed all that the decision was a commitment to the Wrestling Program – continuing facility improvements, sustaining the increased support staff and hiring a Head Wrestling Coach to lead OSU back to contending for the NCAA Championship. Scott is personally involved and dedicated to OSU Wrestling.
The selection process: · The selection committee will include OSU Wrestling Alumnus Greg Strobel and the WEF Board Chair. Additional members are being contacted by Dan Bartholomae, Executive Deputy Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer. · The intent is to complete initial screening within a few weeks and a final selection in a process that is well planned to introduce a new Head Coach. · Based on the current health concerns, the selection committee will maximize virtual means to personally interview candidates.
The interest is phenomenal. The number of well-known names that have been recommended and are candidates affirms that OSU Wrestling is a program that is supported and seen as returning to an elite power.
A significant factor in the Head Coaching position interest is the Wrestling Endowment Fund. There are not many NCAA Schools with endowment funding and the OSU WEF is the most active and largest athletic endowment at OSU.
We can all contribute to a successful hiring process with our support. If you have been considering or not yet contributed, now is the time!

Since the program is endowed, which is important, that is what makes it so frustrating to me that we underachieved on the national level. Winning a Pac-12 title doesn't impress me whatsoever. This Is a weak conference, and isn't that respected nationwide. ASU could be a powerhouse, but that would be it...we have a great opportunity to make a big difference nationally if we do this right.
