that's where they got the tendon for his elbow surgery It's a ligament. I'm surprised they took it from his leg. They have cadavers for that sort of thing. Of course, 5-6 years from now, they'll grow it from a player's own stem cells.

Drew is a team leader. There he is on crutches, with his arm in a sling, and he was the first guy to greet Heimlich when he came off the mound in the 7th inning.

that's where they got the tendon for his elbow surgery It's a ligament. I'm surprised they took it from his leg. They have cadavers for that sort of thing. Of course, 5-6 years from now, they'll grow it from a player's own stem cells. In my experience, it is most commonly taken from the individual having TJ surgery. They really like to take it from the wrist(if possible), Then from the hamstring. I'm not sure why he would be in a boot.(maybe used a calf tendon?) They use a tendon, that after being graphed into the UCL position...becomes a ligament. That is part of the reason that the recovery time is so long. The recovery isn't from the surgery, it is the time it takes that "tendon" to train itself to be...or morph into a..."ligament". (Sorry for the non-medical explanations/terminology, my experience comes from the title of Dad of patient) Hope that helps.
