After coming back from Las Vegas, I have developed corona virus symptoms. I am curious... is anyone else who took the trip now sick? Going there, I had a woman from Washington two seats away with a dry cough (covering loosely with a paper bag). Coming back, several people in seats behind me were coughing. I was extremely careful in Vegas to not contract the virus via touching anything, so I am pretty sure it would have had to be via air-suspended droplets. Of course, I can’t get a test, but I have had a flu shot and it has been years since I’ve had the flu (whether I had a shot or not). It would be quite a coincidence if it were the flu and not corona.

Will keep you and others potentially stricken in my prayers. I did not head to Vegas, but was prepared to if the Beavs had advanced to the semis with a win over Stanford. Lay low and get well.

I'm no hero just for using common sense hygiene, but hand washing has been automatic for me my entire life.

Common sense restroom hygiene and coronavirus prevention are two different things...Very few men wash with hot water and cleanser for 20 seconds in a public restroom. Bathroom hygiene is a good thing, of course. But, from what little I know, it has virtually nothing to do with protection against coronavirus.... If I'm wrong, please let me know... GO BEAVS !!

Bathroom hygiene is essential - especially when you have very little social distancing ( urinals ) and people all use their hands to flush the same handle and push the same buttons and latch/ unlatch the main door as well as the individual stall doors . I wash my hands with hot water and the supplied soap and then I use the towel to open or close any other handles. If it is an air dryer, I will pull my shirt or jacket over my hand to open or close / lock the door . Just a bit of a germophobe - but , I don't like my health being affected by the poor hygiene of others !

To answer your question, my daughter flew down, started feeling ill so they rented a car and drove home. She's feeling better now, and, like everyone else, has no idea if it was covid-19 or not.

Bathroom hygiene is a good thing, of course. But, from what little I know, it has virtually nothing to do with protection against coronavirus.... If I'm wrong, please let me know... GO BEAVS !! The CDC says studies haven’t shown that soaps with antibacterial ingredients provide any health benefits or remove more germs than plain soaps. All soaps, however, can deactivate a coronavirus so it can no longer infect you. The new coronavirus, coined SARS-CoV-2, is a spherical structure with spiky proteins attached to a membrane, or envelope, that protects the pathogen’s genetic material. Once it comes into contact with soap, this envelope dissolves, leaving behind a dysfunctional virus. “The envelope is a machine that allows the virus to sneak into human cells,” says Jonathan Abraham, an assistant professor of microbiology at Harvard Medical School. “Without it, the virus cannot infect you.” —Scrub all surfaces of your hands. People on average wash their hands for only about six seconds, according to several studies. Twenty seconds is what’s recommended—or, the length of the “Happy Birthday” song sung twice—though it depends on what you touched and how often. And even 20 seconds “is not helpful if you’re not washing the right places,” Dr. Larson says. “It’s about quality, not quantity.” The most vulnerable parts of your hands are your fingertips, between your fingers, the backs of your hands and under your nails. Rubbing these surfaces with enough force is critical, health experts say. People who have longer nails should be extra cautious, they add. www.wsj.com/articles/the-dos-and-donts-of-handwashing-11583952006

Grab a cart that some college kid just unloaded his weekend party cans and bottles in to cash out. You get those cans of soup, loaf of bread that contact the bottom of the cart that contacted the beer cans. You then put those cans and bread on the grocery belt and in the reusable shopping bag (you can wash them, no one does) and then but loaf of bread and cans on the kitchen table and in a cupboard. So virus from student beer cans to the cart to the soup can and bread to the grocery belt to shopping bag to kitchen table to cupboard.
And urinals, have you seen a dry floor below them, now think about your shoes, your rug, tying your shoes.

beavsteve, let us know how you are doing. Take care friend. I got good news today. I was diagnosed with influenza A... it’s bad, but a whole lot better than the novel corona virus. I think I might have picked it up from a sick uck sitting right behind me in a restaurant bar... which I guess would make this a “bird flu”.
