Dang....we are down 9 and get the ball to possibly have a chance to narrow the lead to 6 or 7....but poor passing is killing us. We had a chance to make UConn think they were in for a battle but the ending of the 2nd quarter put it out of reach I think. Too bad....we are a better team than what we are showing right now.

When the ball is in anyone's except Wiese or Weisner's hand they are too hesitant where to go/what to do with the ball. I expected too many unforced error turnovers, but people that shouldn't be dribbling the ball at all (on the offensive end) are making this mountain to climb into Mt. Everest. Terrible overall on defensive switches, too. A wonderful year, greatest season ever, and thank you seniors. It hurts to be embarrassed on national TV, but they were very over matched, no one can beat Uconn on this planet, lost composure too often, looked very unsure of themselves and WAY too many unforced errors. It will be interesting to see what happens next year, lots of empty holes to fill, who will step up?? Who will come in and surprise. Syd will be the only real threat starting the season, show will step up and be a scoring threat to replace Jamie? Lots of question marks.

Might have a lot to do with the BEST team in women's ball... literally in the history of the game going for 4 NCs... 150-5 in their career.
We were overmatched... they are much better... period. There was no series of plays that really mattered.
We had TREMENDOUS season... nuf said

Yeah we got beat by a big margin, but Uconn is the greatest team in women's hoops. We could debate being embarrassed, but not lost composure, of that there is no doubt. There were NUMEROUS times that passes were telegraphed, or just plain terribly executed to Ruth, and others. I understand they were over matched, I get that, but they were also victims of "new to the game" at that level. If they ever get back there some day, it may be different, but the team playaed very tentative and certainly at the start.

The game plan that UConn had was a good one. Knowing that Ruth would not come out to defend, that left Tuck wide open for treys which she made. I didn't think we adjusted quickly enough to counter that. Our offense was tepid at best and to UConn's credit, their defense stymied our guard play. If we had been looking for more 3's as we had in the previous tournament games, we could have helped to lessen U'Conn doubling up on Hamblin.
Been a great year for our gals....I think we have some solid girls coming in to help offset some (I said some not all) of the loss of our seniors....really like Gabby Hanson since I think she will blossom more on the offensive end next year. Gulich has some good strengths as well but not quite the presence of Hamblin.

Just like the other 37 teams. espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/team/schedule/_/id/41/connecticut-huskies

Lost composure? Are we talking about Baylor's coach again?
These ladies play like their coach - even when it's just not their night

Jamie said it best. (Paraphrasing) "You think you have a pass and it turns out you don't." Coach Rueck knows that UConn is excellent. He wants to get Oregon State "there".

I agree, they didn't get embarrassed IMO. Their run late in the first quarter to get it back within single digits was particularly heartening - the fight was still there after getting blitzed early. It was over by the half unfortunately, as it was clear we weren't going to get any help from them (i.e. a very ON night for their shooting - they normally shoot 38% from 3, and went 52% for the game), and 57% from the field in general vs. 52% normally - and what was normally a huge advantage for us is holding teams well under their average was reversed. UConn brought their A-game, we did not. That combo could have been much uglier than it was, and was proud of how they fought through it anyway.
I feel for Weisner in particular - she wanted that one really bad, and probably forced the issue too much out of that desire. Her face in the post game interviews read like someone disgusted that she won't get another shot at them, rather than one of defeat.

That game was nothing to be embarrassed about. The only thing I was disappointed in was our lack of coverage at the perimeter when more than a few times we literally got lost and/or didn't hustle out to contest them at the three point line (when we could have). But its not like it would have enabled us to actually win....just would have made the score a little closer.
Truly historic season that we can build on for years to come!
