I watched the replay. Good grief, those announcers were Coug boosters. Really? Wasn't Elise Woodward doing the call? She's a former Husky, calls a bunch of UW games, Seattle Storm, I think the Mariners. She bleeds purple and gold and is Seattle thru and thru, which would make her very much NOT a Coug booster. Don't know about the guy.

Mik had a good shooting game. 7/11 from the field. 1/1 from 3, 4/4 from the line.

She's also a North Eugene HS grad. Go Highlanders! I wasn't necessarily saying that as a compliment.

OSU with 7 TO's and WAZOO with 11. Nice trend for the Beav's. Almost 79% on FT's. Just need to keep this up for at least two more games!

Mik had a good shooting game. 7/11 from the field. 1/1 from 3, 4/4 from the line. Yes! One reason was that she was playing within the flow of the game and not trying to create in area's that the defense was not giving her. This is how she played most of last season and why she was so effective. Stats are secondary. Sometimes players have good stats but are disrupting team flow while getting them. Players need to be careful especially after they have a game where the defense leaves a lot of openings and their shots are dropping that they do not try to create the same in their next game when it is not within the game flow. That requires repetitive discipline. Notice how there were far less turnovers this game. Mik and Destiny are the most important players on the team in respect to establishing good offensive game flow. They handle the ball the most and are basically co point guards. When they pass the ball between each other and not to the other players that is disruptive. Passing into the post really does not facilitate team flow much because Jones generally goes for the shot. Kennedy did help offensive flow because they often passed the ball to her on the perimeter and that involved another player besides the two. Mattie sort of plays that role at the high post, but she never shoots the three. They should swing the ball around the parameter more often. I find they tend to focus on the right side of the court neglecting the left more often than not. That seems to be a tendency for most guards. Probably because there body is shifted to the right in protecting the ball so they see that side of the court better. There is nothing that opens the offense likes swinging the ball around the perimeter because the entire defense has to shift from side to side. That is the point of having players stationed at the corners. If the ball is not traveling around the perimeter they are basically useless pieces on the court. I believe in Scotts early emphasis on getting the frosh posts involved and up to speed distracted from utilizing the corners in offensive flow. Really elite points will utilize both sides of the court because it forces the defense too focus on both sides as well. Passing does not always have to be to a player who has an open shot, rather to create ball movement that the defense has to react to which opens up both driving lanes and creates open shots a few passes down the line. Recognizing that hitting the open player is not the only pass option is the difference between an elite and a lesser point or distributor. Much like the best chess players operate moves ahead to set up the opposition an elite distributor will facilitate movement to create opportunities two and often more passe down the line. To be fair there are very few elite points even in the WNBA let alone at the college level. But players can learn and improve that aspect of their game if they will only recognize it's importance and effectiveness.

I watched a DVR of the OSU-UW game to test willtalk's theory that OSU's point guards neglect the left side of the court and tend to focus only on the right side of the court on offense. I stopped counting after 8 of OSU's first 9 offensive sets were initiated from the left side of the court. Perhaps willtalk is wrong. I saw Slocum starting the offense frequently from the left side of the court. The ball was also swung via passing to both sides of the court. Better ball movement and limiting the turnovers were two keys to the two wins against the Washington schools. And making shots helped as well.... I will certainly agree with that.

Destiny definitely doesn't have a preference. Mik does have a right tendency but nothing so strong as to cause problems that I've seen.

Was at the game and saw the defensive intensity totally turn the game in the second half. Not going to show in point totals, but Simmons is really aware of what is going on with each possession by the opposition. She is also very good on fast breaks and leading the first girl down the floor ! She just doesn’t shoot enough .. even though something good usually happens. I was also pleased with how we held Hristova down after getting chewed up by ( Megala ? ).the game prior ! Fun game - just sitting back and thinking about keeping it close in the first half and then creating some space in the third( especially ) , and the 4th quarter.
