OSU is 2-7 against the top half of the Pac 12 this season. It doesn't matter how many injuries there have been, Rueck can't seriously be in consideration for COY. Arizona St. at 2-6 w/ an upcoming game against Stanford, CTT also can't be considered a legit candidate. Arizona is 4-4, UCLA 5-2, Stanford 2-3 (w/ 2 more upcoming) and Oregon 8-1. Not trying to be contradictory, but give Graves UA’s roster, and Barnes Oregon’s, and do you think that there would be much difference in those records against the best teams? All speculative, but I don’t think that any other coach could have done any better than Barnes did with her group. Obviously, just my opinion, and if anyone would discredit Graves, they’d be crazy and/or just plain biased against him and/or his team. It’s less about what Graves did or did not do, and more just about Barnes.

My thoughts on Graves can be summed up by the example below.
As many of us now, Ionescu had a melt down in a game last year where she "shoved" a team mate and then threw a water bottle on the ground as she stormed off the court after fouling out and before the game was over.
On the internet there is a video of a consultant explaining how he was hired to help the Ducks get over this episode and help Ionescu become a better leader. All of this is fine except one little thing. According to this guy, he had to explain and convince Ionescu that this wasn't a good thing and that her team mates weren't happy about this. Can you think of some other person who's job it was to point out to Ionescu that that behavior was not OK? Graves had to hire an outside consultant to break the news to Ionescu?
If winning games is the only thing then Graves is obviously the best. If winning and teaching is what a coach is about then I'd say it's Barnes. My vote goes to Barnes.

I am definitely impressed w/ Barnes' coaching and the way she has turned that program around.

I think that the money that was spent on the consultant has been money well spent by Oregon. Graves could have disciplined Ionescu and perhaps he did in a private manner. Hiring an outside expert to help the Ducks through that incident seems to have worked, based upon how the program has moved on from the pushing incident. Ionescu appears to have matured and become a better leader.

"Graves could have disciplined Ionescu and perhaps he did in a private manner." From what the consultant said, Ionescu didn't even know there was a problem. I don't see how you could think that Graves said or did a thing about it.
Does it seem like the consultant gave the Ducks their money's worth? I'd say he did. But my point is, isn't that Graves job? Can you imagine Rueck watching one of his players behaving that way and saying nothing? Heck, can you imagine one of his players doing that? In my opinion Ionescu's only problem is that she behaves a little immaturely at times. And helping with that is the coaches responsibility. I think Graves has shirked that responsibility.

Yeah... love to hear this "consultant". If true to make sure he/she's blackballed. Not sure what professional consultant would share private team issues, especially if also trained as some type of counselor. Maybe a former coach, friend, player of Graves? But, still that stays private.

Tara hasn’t won the award since 2009, and had undefeated Pac-12 seasons in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and one-loss seasons in 2013 and 2014.
(Someone fact check all that it came from Wikipedia which is usually wrong)
I’m guessing her, much like Kelly’s teams, were heavily favored to win the Pac-12 those years, and lived up to those expectations.
Quite a few here would be devastated if Graves didn’t get it.

It was posted over on the Boneyard. If you can't find it I'll look. Not the greatest internet searcher.
