My perception is that tonight's game with UCLA will be a preview of the rest of the season. Not so much as to whether the Beavers win or lose, but whether they are able to keep the effort and dedication necessary to keep competing even when everything is seemingly going wrong(close loss after close loss, injury after injury, etc., etc.).
At some point these players have probably already arrived at the conclusion that they are not going to accomplish anywhere near what they had planned for this year. So how much do you still have to give when that reality is staring you in the face.
Even in our best years, the Beavers often struggled in the PAC 12 tournament. Also in the first round of the NCAA tournament they have been involved in very close games with teams they were favored to beat handily. So the handwriting on the wall seems to be pretty discouraging.
Anyway, would be interested in the thoughts of our group members on this topic.
Thank you!

At this point, is there a "rest of the season" ? It looks pretty bleak. The players have to be realizing that, too. If you can't even beat USC, what hope do we have in the tournament? We probably won't get a bye, and we may not even win our first game. Sorry if I'm pessimistic, but we thought we'd have Mitrovic this year, and Corosdale, and we thought that Kennedy could give us some offense. And without those things, we're now at best a middling team.

Oh yay, another doom and gloom, "why everything is bad" thread!! Can't wait for the negativity to come rolling in.
Key indicators for the rest of the season - stay positive, have fun and remember that it's more than a game. It's family.
Go BEAVS!!

Well stated but even with an excellent Coach such as Scott, it may be difficult for the players to shift from PAC 12 Championship, winning PAC 12 tournament, winning games in the NCAA tournament to accepting that "stay positive, have fun and remember that it's more than a game. It's family" will be motivation enough to keep competing at a high level.
Not trying to be negative just speculating on how difficult it may be to Coach and motivate in the current circumstances.
Go Beavs!

Reduce turnovers, increase shooting percentage and we get "healthy" pretty quickly. Whether this team can do that the rest of the way remains to be seen. Everyone should have reduced expectations, due to the injuries. But it will not lesson my desire to cheer for these young women.

They play the games for a reason. Every team left is an opportunity for a W. There is no unbeatable teams left on the schedule. Very tough teams and on their court, but what's new.
I want the ladies to go as far as they can, but as I stated in some earlier post... if this team and season are what is going to be considered a "down" year, I'm all in and hope the same for every other athletic team at OSU. A 20+ win season, and guaranteed postseason berth don't just happen to everyone in a P5 conference. And... not just any postseason the NCAA tourney.
However, there is nothing wrong with honest discussions on those opinions of what, why, how... and how to maybe remedy it from a fans' view. The "whoa is me" and officiating blame game posts that paints OSU as some kind of victim are what should be avoided. There is no ill will, or conspiracy. These ladies work their tail off on and on the court, they'll earn what they deserve and overcome misfortune the best they can... and learn from both.
Looking forward to the game tonight. An opportunity to make a statement... OSU will be beaming with pride W or L.

I hope we win Tonight but believe we won’t. I do not see progress or self confidence. Hope it changes for the better so that we all can stop sniping each other.

If there is a hopeful side, and there should be, it's that this team is in every game, and have proven they can beat some very good teams. The bad news at this point (beside injuries, etc) is that they are losing more close games than they are winning....2-5 in games of 10 points are closer. 5-2 in those games would make most of us feel quite differently.
Losing two talented 4's is a lot to overcome, so reality may be as skyrider has stated above, but there should be some hope that they can put it together down the stretch and close strong.

I'm taking a pledge to not post anything that I wouldn't say in public; in front of you, the team, or the coaches.

OSU had been doing better with TO's over the last 10 games. KB and her height was becoming an important part of the ball movement for the Beav's and with her out I wonder if they've had to switch up their offensive plays to stuff they haven't practiced as much. Which provides hope that as they practice they will rapidly cut down on TO's again.
I don't see how they keep Onyenwere from going on a scoring spree without KB. But she isn't a crasher like Pili and maybe an OSU finesse game can do it.

Mikayla Pivec is a driven player ... driven to compete and driven to elevate her team. Aleah Goodman and Kat Tudor are sharp shooters that can get hot from 3 - if both get hot, then watch out. Taylor Jones has played a bunch of collegiate basketball now ... and with the help of the OSU coaching staff is sure to continue to improve ... which means she could be the x-factor in the game tonight. Destiny Slocum will do everything possible to lift the team ... a few timely drives and 3-pointers could be the source of momentum in the game that drives the Beavs to victory. Beavs beat UCLA tonight.
