I have seen us struggling for the last three or four Years against the physical style. Our players are good athletes, but the officials are allowing teams to be real physical. Our system seems to get slowed. I wonder why oregon pounded u of a and asu? We struggled so it appears quickness, tempo, philosophy and athleticism all have a part in it. Definitely the achilles heal of this team. Teams that can play physical ball have success against the Beavers. That is why ASU has had great success against the Beavers the last few years. The Beavers at this point can't play a physical game. The game plan against the Beavers has been put out there and hopefully most of the teams can't play that type of game. I didn't see the whole game, but from what I saw, the same issues still persist. Careless with the ball, bad shot selection and bad shooting from the 3 point line. Yes, they did shoot well a few of the recent games but that hasn't been the norm. They were 5-21 from the three point line. Some of those shots were just horrible decisions. I know people hate to hear the phrase "live and die by the three" but that phrase applies to this team. This team isn't a top ten team. They aren't a top 15 team at this time. They have deficiencies that top 15 teams don't have at time. Maybe they will get better at those deficiencies. If they don't, there won't be a deep run in the NCAA's.

We have too many players on the bench that we get no production out of. Our five starters plus Aleah averaged 33 minutes. Our two others who got playing time played 23 minutes total. The Pac-12 tourney will be a challenge.... especially if we don't get the first round bye. Patricia Morris 0 minutes over the weekend.

I fail to see why He plays a slow style with very few players. I do not know if it is that they are not ready to contribute or may never contribute.

We were fortunate to get a SPLIT at Gill. Not a criticism. Wondering how strong UA and ASU look next year. Danka Arizona brings back most of their team (assuming McDonald doesn't go early). Carter, Alonso and McBryde are Sr. Tee Tee Starks is listed as a Sr., she hasn't played at all, not sure if she'll get another year of eligibility. They have another good transfer, Pellington from Oklahoma, sitting out as a RS.
ASU will get hammered by graduation losses, but it seems like they do every year and somehow keep on keepin' on. Richardson, Russell, Ryan, Tapley and Ruden are Sr. That's most of their production.
I thought there would have been a major fall off for ASU this year losing Ibis, Johnson-Chapman, and Ekmark, but Tapley has really helped fill the void of Ibis. Seems like Richardson and Ryan have been around for forever, I won't miss seeing them. They bring in a five or six player class next year, but no top-100 recruits, but they do have some underclassmen who have high ceilings.

I guess my thought is that the team has reached a point where several of the teams in the league appear to have caught up with or passed us in terms of where there programs are going. Perhaps the reason is recruiting? I would be interested in hearing from others if they agree or disagree with me that we are in danger of no longer being an elite team in the PAC 12. I think the most significant factor in our decline is the bad luck we have had with the two recent post players we recruited that have had significant health problems, but I also think recruiting may be an issue also. One year does not make a trend. We lost out on Satou Sabally and the Aussie Jaz Shelley who is a good 3 point shooter for the Ducks. Did we think of going after Minyon Moore for her defense? She had 6 steals against ASU which is no small feat.
Things will get back on track. Just remember Stanford is shaky at best this year which means it is cycylic for everyone.

I can understand Rueck's frustration. Pac12 refs are a joke.
Injuries have really hurt us this year. We had a run of good luck with few injuries. We have to give the team a chance to make adjustments to losing Kennedy. We only lost her Friday and given that she was the second 4 to go down, it's going to make some big differences in our lineup.

The next two games in LA (USC on Friday, UCLA on Monday, ESPN2) unfortunately are going to be more of the same when it comes to physical play (or more accurately, EXCESSIVE physical play). Even Stanford folks described how overtly physical UCLA was this weekend..and how ATHLETIC UCLA is at all positions....the combination being the worst case scenario for OSU. We already know how physical USC plays. This doesn't bode well for OSU.

We just barely won on Friday night and were tied at the end of regulation today, both very close games. But compare the UA thread (where we are doing everything wrong and have limited talent) with the ASU thread (where we a fabulous). I of course exaggerate. And it is true that we have a more methodical deliberate offense and that some of our bench gets limited playing (because they are too inexperienced because…..). Kennedy Brown is a big loss particularly when we do use a lot of bench. And finally, we cannot dwell on the refs. It is an unproductive diversion (I curse myself for booing sometimes). I am upbeat and if we get Kennedy back at close to 100% we might do pretty well.

I think that as we keep hearing the "physical" "gritty" "tough" comments, it's a real concern. As Scott said in the presser - we're in the twilight zone - what really are the rules of the game and how can so many officials be so unable to call a fair game? I'm a huge fan of the women's game, I think it's only appropriate that the Pac-12 look at the officiating and get more inline with the rules videos that they produce.
Would love to see the clips of the MANY full body mid-air situations involving McDonald. I'm not trained to call them, just would love to see them. Somehow she managed zero fouls in this game.
Go Beavs!

Hate to say it but coach has to own this loss. How many times does the point guard stare at the staff for the play and then we dribble around until there is 10 seconds or less on the shot clock. Pull up and wait for their defense to get set even when we have a 4 guard line up we don't push the tempo to try and get easy cheap looks. Frustrating. He is a smart coach he will reflect and make adjustments. Go beavs.

The Pac-12 tourney will be a challenge.... especially if we don't get the first round bye. Patricia Morris 0 minutes over the weekend. We're getting production out of our bench players because now they are starters because of injuries. Brown would not be starting if Corosdale was healthy. Goodman would be 6th man if Kat Tudor was the Nov., 2019, Kat Tudor. We're getting production from our "bench" players, just in a different role. Brown, Washington, Simmons and Morris would be #7, #8, #9 and #10 on a healthy team. Brown and Washington would get minutes, but most of the time #9 and #10s don't play much. You shouldn't expect much production from Simmons and Morris because they're not in position (yet) to be meaningful, productive Pac-12 players. After the BS Minion Moore pulled here two years ago, I don't think we wanted anything to do with her as a grad transfer. And probably vice-versa.

Ohhh, so "loser" was what you parsed as objectionable. But nonathletic and untalented is just an objective opinion. I think your opinion is wrong. I think UA dug deeper and harder than the Beav's this time. Let's hope that if they meet again the Beav's can find it in themselves to reverse the results.
And what is it with you and digging?
