The O’s have invited him to the major league spring training camp in Sarasota! Not to quash to excitement, nor state AR is not deserving, but... He was the #1 overall pick and he is a catcher. LOTS of catchers are invited who'll never have a chance to make the club as there are LOTS of pitchers who need to throw/get routines and drills in. Typically Spring Training rosters vary by team... - 40-man roster - Non-40 invites with a chance to make the club - Non-40 catchers for the reason above - Non-40 invites with no chance but for the experience of being in that environment There can be 80+ at each camp and can change daily.

They are exposing him to an MLB atmosphere so he can learn. They have a plan for him.

Orioles have been clear on their plan for AR Fredrick Keys and Bowie this year. Fredrick Keys can't hit a curveball and Bowie has bad knees. No chance either one of them can make it up to the bigs this year.

Expected Adley to go to Spring Training - my best (humble) guess is that they want to see how he handles top end pitchers (do the Orioles have any of those?), and then salt him at AA till he gets past the 'line' and can be called up if ready so that the team doesn't lose a cheap season on his rookie contract.
