Just go back to leather helmets with no face masks and I guarantee that head injuries go way down. Block and tackle with your face up and don't lead the top of the head.

I don't know if that's true any more. The players have gotten bigger and faster. Mass and speed introduce a lot more force into the collisions on the field. In the leather helmet era seldom you could count the number of players who weighed more than 200 lbs on one hand. Now the opposite is true.

Plus if you watch a bunch of old clips, tackling was shoulders to the hips or lower. Still lots of broken noses, but tackling wasn't head oriented. But, a high knee to the side of a leather helmet still going to be a problem.

Back in HS in the 60s, we had an OT that went about 230 and everyone thought he was a freaking monster.

Hell...I remember when Ernie Ladd was the ONLY 300 pounder in EITHER league.

In 2015 of the 159 offensive lineman who started at least 4 games, only 23 weighed less than 300 pounds. 39 weighed at least 330 pounds.
These days, big guys like Bubba Paris for the 49ers and William “the refrigerator” Perry are not so unique. The game has changed.
