The Ducks are talented and are looking to take care of "unfinished business." The Beavs are looking to regain confidence in their three-point shooting and force the Ducks to take shots that they would prefer not to take.
What will the OSU coaching staff have in mind to help limit what the Ducks do best? Can you effectively zone the Ducks or has Oregon regained its outside touch that had abandoned them during the majority of the season?
Look for OSU to back off Moore and encourage her to shoot as other teams have done. Force Hebard to go left and limit her inside touches. What else can a team do to give itself the best chance to beat the Ducks in Eugene on Friday before a sold-out crowd?
I am hopeful that the OSU coaching staff has some wrinkles in store that will provide the Beavs with an opportunity to take home a road win that would be memorable.

Right now I think the biggest challenge facing Rueck and the Beavs is how to get greater offensive production. At this state of the season Goodman, Tudor and Brown are scoring well below what is needed to scrape out a top 3 finish.....
As several on this board pointed out about a month ago, opposing coaches are now going to tight (ultra tight) man defence on Goodman & Tudor, shutting down the 3 and daring them to beat their defender on the dribble or by shaking loose on a solid screen. Thus far the opposing coaches are winning big on this adjustment...Neither Goodman nor Tudor can beat a good defender on the dribble....Until they can the Beaver's are going to struggle scoring.
The Goodman and Tudor shortfall leaves a big burden on Pivec, Slocum and Jones for point production.......
I don't have any solutions to this predicament, and from what has been shown thus far this conference season, neither does Coach.... Hopefully, the offence will improve, The defence is pretty darn good - not stifling, but solid, and definitely several steps ahead of the offence... I'm hoping the Beavs have a great showing against the Ducks - maybe even steal a win....
But, to tell the truth, right now I see the Beavs in a fight for 4th place with UCLA..... GO BEAVS !!

Unfortunately Tudor probably will not do much if any better due to no fault of her own (her injury was a major one and she should have been granted an additional year by the NCAA so she could fully recover before playing again). Goodman is an excellent player that is probably getting the max out of the physical ability that she has. Unfortunately in her case she is pretty much a one trick pony (3 point shooting) and she appears to be in a terrible slump and/or has lost her confidence.
In any case, it will be very interesting to see if Coach Rueck can get this team back on track. I would not bet against him, but it's difficult to visualize how the ship is going to be righted.
It would be great to have a Jamie Weisner on this team who had a competitive fire that burned and burned!
Go Beavers!
P.S. Who knows how much of a factor losing Corsdale and never having Aquino plays into the equation.

UO has been very impressive at home. I have all sorts of ideas and assessments (of questionable value). But in the end, I think the team (and me and the fans) just need to relax a little. If the team could head into Eugene with a “nothing to lose attitude” their odds of winning just might increase a little. Being a student can be stressful and with additional stress due to pressure to win against top teams is probably no fun. I have to keep reminding myself that these are not highly paid athletes with nothing else to do.

I don't have high expectations for this weekend, though OSU is always a tough out in Gill--for anyone. The UO team has the stars lined up...core veterans back off a Final Four team with three WNBA future first rounders and a pretty solid supporting cast. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised they've dropped two games thus far. So anyway, UO is beatable and you never know until you play the game. I know the Beav players will give it their all, win or lose. I'd be happy to see OSU right the ship a bit with their offense and team shooting, regardless of the outcome this weekend. I'm going to enjoy watching.

In a too early to make sense prediction before the season I saw this team as not overly deep with talent, with two frosh that had to contribute big time, and would compete for 3rd/4th with UCLA. I have not changed my mind. Who wins what games is a crapshoot. But, I still feel this team is on a bit of a downer, ebb/reload season. While on the other hand the ucks have the best team they'll ever field. They have a great class coming in, but a SI type is not among that group. Love or hate her she is a game changer all by herself and her teammates know and thrive off it. She doesn't even have to play that well for them to win games. I doubt OSU goes 2-0. 1-1 and 0-2 wouldn't surprise me. Two seasons from now, with at least one key recruit added to next year's twosome, will be OSU's run to the top again.

Just curious... GO BEAVS !!

Heard rumor that a transfer is looking our way with immediate eligibility... assuming that meant grad transfer. But, you know rumors and there is a lot of season left and teams out there... Personally see the "hole" being an experienced mid-sized 3... someone who can take up some stat sheet slack with Mik leaving. Someone that can handle, and is solid all around without being the spectacular type. With Taya back OSU will have some versatility and the frosh will be seasoned sophs, but I'm not sure Jaz is the answer to go along with DS and Aleah. Just think an experienced player take a lot of pressure off nexts years two frosh.

Actually Oregon is in somewhat the same boat as the Beav's. Several of their players aren't doing as well as people had assumed they would this year.
Hebard- Now that the conference has come up she's much the same as last year. And being limited to immediately around the basket isn't going to be great with TJ, KB and Trish hanging out there.
Boley- Pretty much a zero in all of the games that they needed her to help in this year.
Sabally- Real rollercoaster of a year.
The Beav's almost beat ASU even with none of their four veteran guards having even an OK game. And they barely lost to Stanford with one guard having a good game.
With a very similar lineup on both sides the Beav's were 1/1 against the Ducks last year. Why it's impossible to believe that the Beav's might win these games is beyond me.
Seems to me that if two guards have a good game the Beav's will win.

Taya can play the 3 a bit if she comes back as hoped in great condition next season. Goforth will likely play some 3 as well due to her length and mobility.
With four seniors (and possibly Slocum) departing after this season, I would agree that OSU may be more open to a grad transfer for next season than in recent years. With the added uncertainty of Aquino's availability, the projected roster number really indicates that the two current two incoming frosh need to be supplemented by one or two others for the '20-'21 season.

I don't know that the Duckies are beatable at home this season. Just being realistic and of course I will welcome being wrong. Not gonna worry about Friday night too much. Sunday is a different story.
This season with the injury to Taya, as KB goes so go the Beavs. KB getting comfortable and up to speed offensively, takes pressure off and really opens things up on the offensive end. It's why I think she is encouraged to keep shooting and being offensively engaged cause the Beavs need her executing and performing to reach an elite level as a team. Is she there yet? No. Can she get there this season? That remains to be seen but the more experience she gets the better off the Beavs will be. She is going to be a tough player to defend as she continues to develop.

I would remind all of you doomsayers that Sabrina, Ruthie, and the gang have never won a game at Gill. Never. Kelly Graves has never won a game at Gill. Never. And, since we beat them 13 in a row before losing at their place 2 years ago, they have lost at least 9 straight at Gill.

From what we've seen so far, I would expect this team losses twice to the ducks, once more to Stanford, and on the road at UCLA. That gives them 6 losses on the season, and in the Pac12 this year. Normally you would expect there may also be a game in which they are upset by a team they should beat. That's very possible considering they must face Arizona and Arizona St once more, along with some road games that could be tough. I'm hoping that any upset loss will be offset with a win over oregon, Stanford, or UCLA.
Right now, my over under would be 6 losses, and believe me, I hope I'm wrong because if someone forced me to bet, I would go with the over. If Aleah, or Kat got their shooting stroke back (or Kennedy for that matter), I would change my outlook. I do believe that can happen, I'm just not sure it will.
Last year it seemed the Beavs peaked too early. They had great victories over Oregon and UCLA, and then went to the desert and struggled, struggled in the Pac12 tourney, and never got it going in the NCAA tourney. This year, I'm hoping they get hot at the end of the season, and I do believe it's a real possibility. But it will take Kat and Aleah getting their shot back, and someone else coming to the party. One can only hope, and believe in the coaching staff and players.
Either way, love the Beavs!

Aleah and Kat have all time career moments against the ducks. I expect them to be the best players on the court BOTH games.
