This team has lost ONE game. Sometimes your opponent brings their A+ game and $hit happens. The Pac12 is probably the best conference in the country top to the middle. Expecting to win them all is unreasonable.

sagebrush - I think you're trying to make a point, but it's hard to tell what it is...
First, ASU did not bring their A+ game - they shot 37% from the field; they shot a pathetic 18% from 3; they scored a total of 55 points...This is far from an A+ game. Second, no one here has ever said (to my knowledge) that they expect the Beavs to win every game...Who would say that? Third, to understand basketball you have to raise your explanations quite a bit higher than "$hit happens." Basically, if that's how you dissect what causes a team to lose a basketball game you pretty much admit you don't have a clue.
On the other hand, if you are saying: "We lost a tough one on the road but we're still in the running to win the Pac" - I'm totally with you.... GO BEAVS !!

Expecting to win them all is unreasonable. I've been thinking about starting this same thread with, believe it or not, the same title. We've lost one game, I'm sure we will lose more. I've decided to look at games the way Rueck says he does. The most important thing is the effort the girls give, the final score is also very important but that is not always in their control. Sometimes the other team is just white hot shooting, I'm not saying asu was that hot, and sometimes there is a lid on our basket. I saw the effort in the asu game so I'm ok with that loss.

I agree with the above posts that some people have unreasonable expectations. I hope there is a significant enthusiastic crowd tomorrow night that might buoy their confidence.

I think these accomplished young women are plenty confident. Some of the fans, still getting over the first loss in 16 games...not so sure.

they seem not very confident in their shooting right now; maybe a little tentative, which throws the shot off. But maybe that is hard to judge. Now you are making me not very confident in my confidence assessment.

Actually, I think you are correct in that there are a 2-3 players who have lost a little confidence in their shot right now. Hopefully hitting some shots in practice will help them work out of that.

Shooting in the conference games has been poor thus far especially from 3. >30% on 3's and only 40% from the field overall after 4 games. Defense has been good, but you still have to put the ball in the bucket to win. Hopefully they can bend the curve the other way with these home games.

Cal is last in the conference in defensive fg% and near the bottom in points allowed. If the Beavs offense doesn't get healthy tonight, it will present some questions.
