Have read that the Devils may be without their best guy. Zahid wrestling an Oly style event somewhere; therefore Austin Clayton is listed as their 184. Nonetheless this team is stacked...they took out Penn State earlier in the season and almost did the same with tOSU.

Actually, not bad. ASU was without a couple of guys, but two Beaver wins against ranked guys on their home mat is excellent. Along with the other 2 decisions, there were a couple of guys who competed well.

Along with the other 2 decisions, there were a couple of guys who competed well. Not bad??? Excellent??? That’s a damming indictment of the current state of Zalesky’s program. 4 decisions while our 6 losses include 2 falls and 1 TF. Sorry but that’s an ass-kicking by a conference rival with equal or lesser support and facilities. I’ve been to ASU’s wrestling room. It’s a glorified Quonset hut. The only difference? Coaching and leadership. It’s past time for a new HC. Thanks for your efforts over 13+ years Jim but you have not met this program’s reasonable expectations for competitive success.

We got handled by a top 5 team on their home mat. Sure, that's a given. But we won where we thought we would and 1 where I thought ASU was favored, namely 149 Lane Stigall.

Why isn’t OSU a top 5 team? Or a top 10 team? Or a top 15 team? Or a top 20 team? Or a top 25 team? intermatwrestle.com/rankings/college/Team2?

Good question. Unranked Michigan beat #11 Minnesota 21-15. We beat Michigan 21-15. Where should that put us?

Looking through the roster and I have to admit I'm very underwhelmed. If captain of your HS wrestling team is the best you got to list then....I don't know what to say to that. Some don't have anything listed. Another went to State 2 times and came in 3rd as a Senior. Why can't we get the guy who actually won at state? At least the 2nd place feller? Let alone the guy who won state 4 years in a row. Go to a tournament with a bunch of Community Colleges and get your ass kicked? They have some good wrestlers but why all of the dead wood?

Having attended most of the opens this year since my kid is wrestling NAIA - yeah I agree. I've seen quite a few of the back ups get absolutely man-handled multiple times. There have been a few bright spots - Ein Carlos won yesterday, cruised through his bracket and beat a tough, experienced kid easily in the finals. But definitely a lot of pretty underwhelming performances on the back end of that roster.

ASU caught up and surpassed us so quickly. Here’s the question. Will Jim Zalesky be OSU’s last wrestling coach? Another question. Does anyone care?

The program is almost fully endowed. OSU is completely in Title IX compliance, no need to drop a men's sport. So why do you keep harping about the program being dropped?

I certainly hope it isn't the end of OSU wrestling, and I definitely hope for a new wrestling coach next season. The recruiting is beyond bad. The development is mixed at best. The future may be totally dependent on the health of the endowment and how that plays into the expense factor for the program. I know there were limitations placed on endowment use. I can't find current data for expense and revenue for the wrestling program.
