A little reading on the start of Pac-12 play last weekend for those who like to keep up. highposthoops.com/2019/12/31/freshmen-step-up-in-opening-weekend-of-pac-12-play/I was a little surprised that Colorado was able to go to Utah and get the win, but Utah, who looked like a rising program mid season last year, has really gone down hill, despite having some young talent. Both teams will be a nice test for the Beavs getting ready for the big road trip to the Arizona teams. I was not surprise that Arizona won on the road at Arizona State. What was a little surprising was that even with McDonald in foul trouble, the Wildcats were a plus 2 in 9 minutes that she was on the sideline. All of us who were impressed with Cate Reese last year and seeing her growth from freshman to sophomore, are looking forward to seeing the same from Taylor and Kennedy next season. UCLA just continues to get better, and their young players are getting good experience and showing they have some talent. It's going to be real fun this weekend as Arizona and Arizona State hit the road to play the LA schools. I'm really interested in the outcome of the Arizona at UCLA game. In my mind, if Arizona can prove the can play on the road without losing their composure, this should be a really good game. Either way, expect a huge crowd for Arizona's home games next week against oregon and Oregon State. The Beavs will be facing their first loud opponent crowd this year. How will the freshmen do in that environment? We'll find out soon enough.

I know I sound like a broken record, but Arizona's strength of schedule ranking is 256, and was 291 before they played Arizona State. The 'under the radar' team to watch for in the PAC 12 is UCLA, not Arizona, in my opinion. I think that, come a week from Sunday, Arizona is going to have 3 losses in conference.

UCLA has finished 3rd or 4th in the conference the last 4 years, and has reached the Sweet 16 all 4 years. If they are "under the radar" in anyone's opinion, it's only because they haven't been paying attention. They are currently ranked #10 in both polls.

I was a bit surprised UW won @ WSU. I only saw the 4th quarter. Not a great game, but I'm sure the Huskies were very happy w/ the road win.

A lot of teams are going to have 3 losses after playing UCLA, Oregon and Oregon State. I don't think anyone on this board expects Arizona to end up in the top 3 in the Pac-12, but it also may not be fair to underplay their 18 wins in a row, including a nice WNIT run, the defense they play, the talent of Reese and McDonald, and their new found home crowd/court advantage. UCLA may have been considered 'under the rader" at the beginning of the year, but they've always had one big advantage----------their schedule. Only playing Stanford, Oregon and Oregon State once, makes for a much better end of league record. I was impressed with UCLA winning at a very tough Indiana team. Indiana started out super cold though, and I'm not sure if that can be contributed to UCLA's defense. After that cold start, Indiana just couldn't recover.

By "under the radar", I meant a team hasn't been getting the media hype, but, 6 weeks from now, could very well be in the hunt for the conference title. UCLA most definitely can be, Arizona, in my opinion, cannot.

Not Pac-12, but Missouri State is in a real barn burner with Loyla...tied with 1:14 to go in OT.
Miami lost again yesterday. Ouch for them and our strength of schedule.
Missouri State pulls in out in the end!
