4 Beavs make it to day 2 at the Scuffle. Devan Turner is in the semi's. Knocked off a higher seeded and ranked guy in quarters. That will help him. Others in the wrestle backs, need 1 more win to place me thinks. Go Beavs! 133 - Devan Turner 141 - Grant Willits 157 - Hunter Willits 184 - Colt Doyle
Top 20 teams after day one 1 Oklahoma State 70 2 North Dakota State 63 3 NC State 61.5 4 Rider 61 4 Stanford 61 6 Northern Colorado 59 6 Pittsburgh 59 8 Rutgers 49 9 Lock Haven 43 9 Navy 43 11 Appalachian State 42.5 12 Air Force 36.5 13 West Virginia 34 14 Chattanooga 33.5 15 Virginia Military Institute 32 16 Cal State Bakersfield 28.5 17 Oregon St. 27.5 18 Iowa State 26.5 19 George Mason 25.5 20 Drexel 21.5

That was an awesome win by Devan. Mosha Schwartz is one of the top freshman in the country at 133. Hunter got "cow caught" after a pretty good scramble by both guys. Bummer. Everyone else in blood round this morning. Update: Grant Willits lost to the #6 seed, 8-0. Hunter Willits beat #4 seed Rahmani of Pitt 11-4 and will place. Doyle wins via medical forfeit and will place.

Yup, pretty good showing from the guys we expected. Funny, recapping a conversation I had with Turner at the kickoff dinner in October. I said, be the leader take this team on your shoulders and show them how it's done. Then I said, you, Willits', Doyle; you guys take charge. He said 'yes sir.'
I hope he can win his semi final, that would be huge. He will be back in the rankings next week regardless. He took out the Nebraska and N. Colorado guys, both ranked in the teens.

I've watched most of his matches this season and he looks like a totally different kid out there compared to this time a year ago. Pretty cool to see some success stories when it comes to development. We need a lot more of that! Also noticed Jackson McKinney dropped to 174 for this one. Not sure if he's the answer, but it can't hurt to have another option.

Turner ran into a buzzsaw in the semis, TF 19-1. So he'll finish 3rd-6th. Hunter Willits won so he's now in cons semis, and will place 3rd-6th. Doyle lost in cons semis and will wrestle for 7th/8th.

Hunter and Turner finish 6th Doyle finishes 8th
Not too shabby, about what the seeders predicted.
Next up is @ U. Michigan on Sunday

Michigan on Sunday My takeaway is that Stanford is likely going to be a big time problem for people over the next few years. Abas, Real Woods and Shane Griffith all champs - all freshman (Abas redshirting this year). They got a couple more kids coming in that are ranked Top 10-15 in the country as HS seniors.

Agree, Stanford has basically replaced OS in the conference. When you gauge their freshmen and underclassmen vs ours, its clear to see they are better.
