I don't care = No one else cares Getting more and more common among younger sports fans. No disrespect intended. A couple of years back shortly after the CFP began, I was shocked at the number of star athletes not playing in their school’s bowl game. I can’t remember which players or which teams but it seemed pretty crappy to me. I figured that perhaps the bowl games don’t mean as much as they used to. My question was an honest one, not an indication of whether I care or not. My mistake was to assume a conclusion based on what may have been a unique year. Your mistake was to assume that A) I am young and B) that I don’t care. Freeman from Oregon was one of them although he enjoyed the trip allowed to travel with the team.

It was also the damn Las Vegas Bowl. Hardly a needle mover. You don't see players skipping the Rose Bowl.

Hell, Bosa, the All World DL from The osu, took the last 7-8 games off due to "injury".

I think it's more of a reaction to seeing guys get hurt in bowl games. Jaylon Smith of ND tore his ACL in the 2016 Fiesta Bowl and cost himself a whole lotta money. Went from Top 10-15 type guy to 34th pick in the draft. Since then, McCaffrey, Fournette, Denzel Ward, Rosen and a bunch of others have sat out to avoid injury and secure their spots in the 1st round.
