Losing 49-24 to a decent Iowa team in San Diego tonight. Yeah, Clay is definitely the man. That team seldom looks ready to play in their bowl games. What a nosedive.

Oh if only the Trojans could play that bad when we are in the Coliseum. KO return TD, Pick-6, a ton of turnovers, lose the starting QB to injury, D getting shredded...when it rains it pours.

Honest question. Do the minor bowl games even matter? Sure, a win is always better. Sure, the extra practices matter. Sure, making it to a bowl game is important. But does anyone really care how the minor bowl games turn out?

The Holiday Bowl is not a minor bowl.

The Holiday Bowl is not a minor bowl. Well, since a few years back, only the CFP bowls matter. Anything less and you can’t be sure that the full team will play, particularly if there’s a star player going pro.

But does anyone really care how the minor bowl games turn out? Does anyone care? Fans of the teams’ care. I would hope that the players who suit up care, and I think they do. Coaches certainly do. Really before the playoffs were instituted, there was rarely if ever more than 4 teams that had a chance to be voted number 1 in final poll. So has it changed that much? The big change has been that the traditional top bowls don’t always have the same conference tie-ins. Watching the Cotton Bowl and not a Big 12 or SEC team in sight. Now does the average fan care that Iowa best USC? Probably not. But then again 25 years ago no one would have cared who won a bowl game on Dec. 27 either

Clay is part of the problem, but they go way beyond him to the athletic department and administration. no direction, no leadership. Joel Klatt who worked the game said it best "it takes 10,000 people to screw in a light bulb at USC these days.

I don't care = No one else cares
Getting more and more common among younger sports fans. No disrespect intended.

Hmmm...has anybody ever seen them together??

Helton is going to try to save his job by cleaning house internally. Count on 2-3 assistants being gone.

I don't care = No one else cares Getting more and more common among younger sports fans. No disrespect intended. A couple of years back shortly after the CFP began, I was shocked at the number of star athletes not playing in their school’s bowl game. I can’t remember which players or which teams but it seemed pretty crappy to me. I figured that perhaps the bowl games don’t mean as much as they used to. My question was an honest one, not an indication of whether I care or not. My mistake was to assume a conclusion based on what may have been a unique year. Your mistake was to assume that A) I am young and B) that I don’t care.
