With the 2020 prep season just around the corner, with some states starting play in late February, college coaches will be intensifying their observation and scouting of the 2023 prospects. The summer travel and tournament circuit was an opportunity for "Underclass" prospects to showcase their skills and for coaches to evaluate those prospects on their recruiting board. Now, a 20-30 game prep schedule offers a new opportunity to chart physical growth and maturity gains made following summer ball.
Within the confines of the west coast and Oregon State's primary recruiting areas, I'll throw out some names of top prospects at their respective positions. Let's start with pitchers, in no particular order.
Duke Ekstrom RHP 6-1, 165 San Diego, CA - Point Loma HS
Jacob Zibin RHP 5-11, 175 Langley, B.C. Secondary School
Luke Rodriguez RHP 6-3, 200 Shafter, CA. HS
Ryan Featherstone RHP 5-10, 180 Stockdale, CA. (Oregon commit)
Jacob Hudson RHP 5-10, 170 Scotts Valley, CA. / San Jose-Valley Christian
Kyle Connelly RHP 5-11, 170 Clayton Valley, CA. HS
Nolan Stevens LHP 6-1, 180 Elk Grove, CA. - Franklin HS
Toby Twist LHP 6', 170 Bakersfield, CA. - Garces Memorial HS.
Zane Kelly LHP 6', 160 Las Vegas, NV. - Faith Lutheran HS
Cole Stokes RHP 5-9, 155 Redondo, CA. - Redondo Union HS
Ashton Evangelista RHP 5-11, 145 Riverside, CA. - ML King HS
Brody Mills LHP 6', 160 Spokane, WA. - West Valley HS (Washington commit)
Gabe Gaeckle RHP 5-9, 150 Aptos, CA. HS

Ex-Beaver Mike Ekstrom pitched at Pt. Loma Nazarene after leaving OSU. Wonder if they are related.

We need to identify some of the northwest pitchers, there are several that will emerge during their upcoming freshman seasons and then during 15u travel team play next summer.
We'll note the kid from Lake Washington HS.
