Where did you find that number? Ron Callan announced it at halftime. Counting all the empty season tix seats? Didn't look to be 3500

4784 is the official count on the box score. I believe that number comes from the tickets scanned upon entering Gill.

Stat of the night. OSU holds UH to 23.2% shooting for the game.

KB in the pregame shoot around was missing from the 3. So she took a long step in and sank 5/6 shots. Then in the game she was nailing her 3's. Maybe she carefully reads my thoughtful posts and took my advice about taking shorter shots until you can hit them and then moving out? Yeah, I think so too. She got a little dribble happy a couple of times, and she doesn't always brace herself enough against other bigs on defense. But otherwise you can't really tell you are watching a freshman out there.
TJ is an interesting contrast. On offense she just seems to instantly know what to do when someone starts to drive. Whether it's to move to an open spot or help block out she's got it down. So on offense she seems to have the slow down effect that SR talks about, but on defense things are still at full speed. This results in fouls and her then needing to sit down. When that slow down happens for her on defense she is going to be a terror out there.
Trish is TJ's opposite. She's got the defense down pretty much. She does great in getting the first block but someone needs to remind her to keep her arms in the air until she sees someone on her team with the ball. But on offense she still doesn't have that understanding that TJ has of where to be when your team mate is starting a drive. But kuddo's to her for her picks! She sets one and then sets another etc, and they are all pretty much brick walls just like the coaches ask for. Makes life so much easier for the guards.
Mik didn't need to do much, so she didn't do a lot. Just be Mik for 23 minutes.
Destiny has been taking lessons from Mik on rebounding, she's been getting a lot for all of her 5'7". Her defense has definitely picked up from last year, but her foul problems are from when she makes mistakes on defense and she gets a little grabby. She needs to trust her team to cover for her on those mistakes and just let it go. They need her out there playing, not sitting on the bench.
Aleah had a pretty quiet game, but she wasn't needed to do a lot. Her improvement in defense very visible in this game though.
Maddie, I think, is the best defensive helper on the team. What I thought of as a bit of a weakness last year has turned into a strength. Whenever someone get inside against a Beav Maddie was there to help, and Maddie was angled so that whoever she was supposed to be covering was cut off from view by the person with the ball. Maddie's only problem is that she isn't a couple of inches taller. No height and no lift means if a true big gets the ball inside she can't stop them from scoring without help.
Kat was a little off this game. No idea why
Jas had two brilliant drives and then couldn't finish them. If she could just get those drives to fall she'd be an great replacement for Mik next year. Her defense is doing fine, her rebounding is good, passing good enough etc. Just needs to get that ball to fall.
Jan was a little off today also. Flu has been hitting Corvallis today. Maybe they got it?

I believe only one of Taylor’s fouls were defensive. One was on a moving screen and one was her clearing out a defender for a post up. She had some really nice moves, and once she expands offensively, she will really tough to stop because of how well she understands the game. How many freshman do you see leaning on their defender to get a feel for which side they should go to?

Taylor really needs to work on her screen setting. This should not pose a big problem for the staff. Setting screens without committing a foul is not that hard to learn.....I'm hoping by February her tendency to drift and shuffle will be long gone.....
Like so many others on this board, I'm totally impressed with Taylor's ability to move to daylight on offence, to receive a quick, short pass and to put it up in one efficient motion....She obviously has been working on her low post moves and it showed last night even though she was playing against a shorter defender...
I haven't looked at her official stats for the season, but I'd guess she scores more per minute played than anyone on the team....
At any rate, whether one has a highly trained eye or not it is obvious to basketball fans that Taylor Jones has something very special about her game, she's got star quality and that star will shine brighter and brighter as her career at OSU unfolds....... GO BEAVS !!

GO BEAVS !! Their center was also 6-4, so actually a same-sized defender. She gets up and down the floor really, really fast.

There's a lot to like about Jone's game, especially as a freshman. If I were her trainer, an area I'd work on is trying to develop her "hops". She's not much of a jumper. With her height and wingspan, if she could get even another 6-8" on her vertical , she'd be able to just go right over the top of most every player she faced offensively. She'd be tough for anyone in the low post.

It was kind of nice just having Kennedy and Taylor being the leading scorers for the game. When was the last time the Beavs had two freshmen as the lead scorers in a game??? It bolds well for the future.
Taylor just has a great ability of putting the ball in the hoop. She definitely has other areas that need work, but there is every reason to believe the next couple years are going to be great for her and the Beavs.
411500, I haven't looked it up yet either, but there is no doubt Taylor is the leading scorer per minute played.
Kennedy has a nice well rounded game, but she does make a lot of freshman mistakes. I know she has to be near the top of the team in turnovers, but as she gets used to the speed of the game, that should improve.
This team is going to miss Taya a lot, but if Kennedy can start sinking those 3's while still playing solid D, it will be a great season.

I'm looking at stats right now. Jones averaging 13.5 ppg in only 18.6 mpg. Pivec and Slocum are scoring slightly more but playing 10+ more mpg. Mannen is the only other player close in point/minute scoring 3.8 ppg in only 6.3 mpg. She's only appeared in 4 games and it's pretty much always garbage time, but her scoring average is higher than Washington, Simmons, Thropay and Morris.
