I love watching her play and compete. She is truly unique and is making contributions on the floor that are not captured in the regular stats. I am sooooo glad she chose OSU , and it is going to be a sad day when she does not lace up for the Beavers anymore! Go Mikayla - Go Beavers !

She was listed a first rounder in many of the other ones, but who knows. It'll be interesting to see if Sabally and/or Carter go out for the draft. I would love to see Sabally in Indiana. They have a really good young center. Hopefully in a couple years we'll have a couple active players. I think Slocum will make a really good PG in the pros. I really hope we can get Oregon twice this year. I'd even settle for once quite honestly. Just really want to go 2-1 over that stretch over Oregon x2 and Stanford.

Relatively speaking, WNBA money is chump change, and I doubt that the endorsement opportunities would make Michael Jordan jealous. I understand Hodgins declaring for the NFL draft, but I don't really anticipate a lot of women , including Destiny, leaving a year of college eligibility on the table. With regard to Sabrina, my guess (and it's only a guess) is that Nike will give her a big endorsement deal 5 months from now. I think the plan was for her to be player of the year for a second time, win a national championship, be placed on the Olympic team, and become the biggest name in the sport. Then comes the shoe that every 11 year old girl will just absolutely have to own - at about $125 per shoe.

Although Nike spends about $1 billion in endorsement deals a year, not big $ to WNBA players. And, they've caught some heat for WNBA superstars of today not having signature shoe lines as some past stars have. But, Nike is a biz and smart. SI is going to have to have an impact in the WNBA to invest a whole lot upfront. Of course if your daughter, granddaughter to strike it rich, start them in tennis young! Think I saw top 10 paid female athletes are all tennis players...

I'm guessing the endorsement $$ available to WNBA players isn't much either.

Getting attention in the WNBA mock draft too. #6. linkAnd Destiny nowhere to be found in the mock draft. Are they expecting her to return for her senior year? I think she might have insinuated that she would return. That would be a really smart move. She really made a quantum leap in respect to her improvement from last season so much so that she probably could go this coming draft. Yet it would still be in her best interest to do one more year in order to clean up certain skills. In respect to money, what a rookie makes in the WNBA certainly is not that much. They do far better overseas. Most players only play in the WNBA for the exposure. It increases their market value not only for over seas, but also for endorsements in the States. If they are high profile, endorsements is where they can make some real money. Most higher profile players would make more right off the bat overseas compared to any rookie salary they could make here. However, making a WNBA roster impacts what they make overseas. Grymek is playing back up behind Gulich (again) in the Euroleague and I bet she is making more than any first, or second year player in the WNBA. All in all they will still make much more than a graduate might make getting a regular entry level job while still being able to play a game they love.

Someone can correct me on this, but I'm pretty sure Destiny is set to graduate this spring. It seems I recall that Destiny has spoken to the effect that she wants a career in basketball. My guess is that she will declare for the draft. The WNBA money may not be enough to entice, but the stature of being in the WNBA, and overseas money may be enough.
I really hope she returns, because a back court of her and Aleah, along with Sasha and Jazz would be pretty formidable, with a front court of Kennedy, Taylor, Taya, Trish, and Jelena, the Beavs would have every hope of hanging near the top of the Pac12, despite losing a GREAT player in Mik. Without Destiny, the guard/wing position looks a bit thin, especially at the point. If Aleah were to get hurt, there could be real problem. If Destiny does declare for the draft, I would expect the Beavs to land a graduate transfer who can help at point.

I was sure that I read an article some where within the last month or two in which she implied that she would like to return.

I was sure that I read an article some where within the last month or two in which she implied that she would like to return. I think that what you are remembering might be that a member of the USA Team advised her to make the most of her college experience and she seemed to think it wise. She never said she was definitely taking that advice.
