Discount completely? No. But, that was not a elite HS team. So... whatever stat you want means zero for future quality teams. Ex except of course for padding stats. I am not an EXPERT on "elite HS teams" - so I'll likely will be educated by bb1111. But, just for fun, I looked up the high school histories of (only the starting 5) Southern Utah players: Cardenas - El Paso Times (newspaper) Player of the Year, league MVP Harley - no bio Fano - Utah 1st Team All State (not aware of which 'division') in both 2018 and 2019. Chatman - 2 time All-District 1st Team (not aware which 'division') Armato - Australia...no other bio. The "Thunderbirds" are D-1 (Big Sky), and came into the game at 3-1, including wins over UNLV & Cal State Fullerton. I'm uncertain what all this means....but I have a hunch that someone out there may help my understanding. Hyperbole maybe... But, really rpi 272... 50 pt loss could have been 70. Arizona beat them on their home floor (?) by 49. They are bad. Ask players and I'd bet they tell you they played a better team in HS, certainly on the summer circuit. Without looking I'd bet close to half their team was 5'7" or shorter. And, really not overly athletic. A bad combo. These are stat filler games. Every elite team plays multiple like it. Ugly, but can't wear yourself out before the Pac12 gauntlet.

Of course, I recognize that listed heights are sometimes fudged.

Taylor’s sister played there before I believe medically retiring. She is the same height as Taylor.
Kennedy got stitched up, but thankfully no fracture.

Let's not get carried away about Noelle. I only caught a couple plays on the livestream. I saw her nail a three, and I also saw her get beat twice on defense - one getting a foul. She's not a Pac-12-level player, but over time I imagine that the coaches will find situations where she can be successful and help the team. I love her attitude and anything we get from her is pure bonus. I haven't seen her enough to know if she might have enough physical gifts to find a way to compete at the Pac-12 level. However, I have seen enough to see she's not intimidated to play at that level. In the few minutes she has gotten against very good teams, she didn't play like a typical deep-bench garbage time player, but rather composed and ready to contribute. I'm not making any predictions, but I do give her serious props for being mentally ready to play whenever she's gotten a chance, and that tells me SHE believes she can play at this level.

I wonder if SR knows that, if I were you I'd give him a shout 'cause he might be making a big mistake..I know he would appreciate the input from the board experts...:-)

After today's game we might have to start adding Mannen to "the freshman". Granted she might not be at the level of Brown and Jones but when she gets in she plays smart. She can also shoot, according to Destiny Mannen often wins at shooting threes. 10 points including 2 threes and 2 free throws to go with 3 rebounds in 13 minutes is a good day. I don’t mean to be harsh but I only see Noelle playing in late game situations where the game ha already been decided or against overmatched opponents where were wanting to rest the scholarship players. That said, it was nice to see her put up some numbers against SUU (overmatched opponent).

She played in both halves. Also had an assist and committed no turnovers. The threes were contested shots, she drove to the basket and finished for her two, and hit a pair of free throws. She wasn't gifted any points. Will she be a major contributor this year? Probably not but maybe in a year or two. Since we won over a "seriously inferior foe" does that discount Mik's 18 rebounds? Or Kat and Aleah's four triples? They played the same inferior foe during garbage time. Obviously it does. Mik won’t be pulling down 18 boards against any PAC-12 opponent.

Noelle Mannen could very well could see playing time in close games. Here's why. She can run the offence. In all likelihood, she would not take shots while running the offence....Her role would be to make sure that one of the "top three" shooters got a shot on each possession.... The current team is plenty good enough that it can afford to have a bench player serve this role for 4 and 5 minute spurts....
Noelle can serve as an expediter, as a facilitator, of the offence without being a scorer....She can handle her check defensively for short spurts.. These situations will arise. Most likely when either Destiny or Aleah has foul trouble, and the other needs a break. She would be slotted in to run the show during these brief intervals....
Noelle does not need to be a complete Pac 12 player to fill the role just described....She has the goods right now to be a classic "role player" - in the right circumstances....She could be a starter on 3 or 4 Pac-12 teams...
You don't get to be a walk-on with a National Power just for the hell of it. She can play - just not well enough to make the rotation on a team expecting to make the Final Four this season....
Anyway, that's how I see it...... GO BEAVS !!

Obviously it does. Mik won’t be pulling down 18 boards against any PAC-12 opponent. I believe Pivec hauled down 19 boards against Washington last season in Seattle. It can and has happened against a PAC-12 opponent.

My input - let’s just let Scott make the decisions. He’s done pretty darn good so far. He is also very good at inserting and removing the right personnel at the right time and during the various team matchups. He seems to place a lot of emphasis on full team development too. Injuries, illnesses, and other things can impact the team throughout the year and you have to be prepared for any eventuality.

bhf that is a miss quote. I never said she won't get 18 against a pac12 opponent.
