National signing day is one week from today on November 13th, and Oregon State's 2020 Baseball Recruting Class will be in the books. As close as I can tell, the Beavers will sign 16 new student-athletes, including seven pitchers. Pitching is obviously the strength of the class. We may see several additional walk-ons join the class on NSD.
PITCHERS: Mick Abel 6-6, 194 RHP/B-R Portland, OR. / Jesuit HS Justin Thorsteinson 6-4, 204 LHP/ B-L Langley, B.C. (Canada) / Langley Secondary School Jason Hunter 6-3, 206 RHP/B-R Gresham, OR. / Sam Barlow HS Jonah Giblin 6-3, 196 RHP/B-R Silverdale, WA. / Bainbridge HS Heith Rasica 6-4, 189 RHP/ B-L Henley, OR HS Ian Lawson 6-6, 214 RHP/B-R Hillsboro, OR. / Century HS Brock Townsend 5-11, 172 RHP/B-R Eugene, OR. / Churchill HS / Linn-Benton CC
INFIELDERS: Jordan Donohue 5-9, 155 R/SH Mililani, HI, / Damien Memorial HS Alejandro Cazorla-Granados 5-11, 166 R/R Calgary, AL (Canada) Foothills Academy-Okotoks BB Academy Garrett Forrester 5-11, 189 R/R Fair Oaks, CA. / Bella Vista HS Brady Kasper 6-1, 177 R/L Mission Viejo, CA. / Capistrano Valley HS Paul Myro 5-10, 175 R/SH Henderson, NV. / Basic HS
OUTFIELDERS: Luke Watson 5-11, 162 R/R Glendora, CA. / Maranatha HS Tommy Dukhart 6-2, 185 R/L Lake Oswego, OR. HS Kyle Keyes 6-0, 186 R/SH South Jordan, UT. / Bingham HS Rohan Wright 6-3, 183 R/R Tallahassee, FL. / James Rickards HS

The chances of him playing as a Beaver is, unfortunately, very very slim to none. And, good for him!

Chin, good call a while back on Giblin. I never saw a confirmation about Giblin on PG or the other recruiting sites. His school district confirmed the signing this morning.

Love the updates chinmusic. Thank you for sharing your info with us.
I'm gonna assume that two of those players are Jaren Hunter (Barlow) and Tommy Dukart (LO).

I had thought that Donahue flipped to Texas A&M? Did that happen and flip back? Thinking of someone else?

Gavin Logan was discussed here on the board. It was noted we were stocked with catchers in 2021 if Claunch doesn't sign following the 2020 MLB draft. Claunch, Hamilton, Steck, Weber, and Forrester who plays 3B and Catches. Add to that Mike Tsoukalas and Tanner Smith who arrive in 2021, and you have 6 or 7 catchers available for duty.
Look for the Orioles to jump on that situation - "Adley Rutschman was so good, it took Oregon State 6 catchers to replace him in Corvallis."
OSU does not differentiate scholarship from preferred walk-on commitments when announced. All pledges get equal billing. That makes it difficult to predict a precise number for the signing class. Ten were announced as our official signing class but you can now look for Cazorla, Rasica, Keyes, Wright, and Townsend to be announced between before next May as joining the program as walk-ons. If we lose one along the way, I would guess it would be Rohan Wright.

This year, he was a big, power-hitting 1B without a lot of mound time. His early commitment to OSU indicated a scholarship to me, but I was obviously wrong. Henley had good pitching including the older Rasica brother. It is 4A, but Henley would be competitive at any level. A big, strong, hard throwing, dominant, sophomore doesn't pitch much as a junior though. Injury??? Or was the starting pitching for Henley deep enough that Heith was more valuable as a pen guy? Interesting.
